How are you coping?
First the double bill was halved, replacing one episode with According to Jim.....and now gone, just gone..
Last night I went to some nice pubs and watched Captain America, which I didn't enjoy as much as I thought.
Started to watch My Life As a Turkey when I got in, anyone see that?! It reminds of something Cronin would do.
Just not loads, not like Iron Man
But I do prefer the character, so I'm biased.
RD Jnr though? FIT!
Was there a story in there worth telling? Apparently not. It barely lasted as long as an old Disney cartoon to introduce War Machine and Scarlett Johansen, essentially a metaphor for the entire film: looks nice but oh so utterly personality-free.
For this reason Thor and Captain America can fuck off until I need some fodder to watch on a plane or something. I'll check out The Avengers, though. Hopefully it'll be fun.
The best thing about Iron Man 2 was clearly Sam Rockwell.
He's the best.thing about anything <3
it must be, like, six months since I posted this
Well that's what I was told.
Sounds like the Marvel template is wearing a little thin from the reviews. I guess they'll still find the way to make The Avengers film into an origin story.
A lot of people have said they're surprised at how belligerent he is - whereas Spider-Man will always avoid killing someone, Cap dispateches Nazis left, right, and centre. But his whole stance is summed up at the start when he's trying (repeatedly) to join the army - Erskine asks him if he wants to kill Nazis, and he says 'I don't want to kill anyone - I just don't like bullies'.
which is that killing Nazis is always okay because they don't count.
even though there's a ridiculous body count, and no attempt to "cartoon" it up.
*adopts high pitched voice* 'I LIKED THE BIT WHERE SAMUEL L JACKSON POPPED UP HIS LITTLE HEAD'. You're such a girl.
Got me excited for the Avengers and more RD Jnr. OMG HE'S JUST SO HANDSOME *squeals*
'I HOPE THAT THEY MAKE THAT AVENGERS FILM BEFORE HE'S OLD AND UGLY'. ^film fan right there.
LIKE HE DOES IN EVERY ONE OF THOSE FILMS.
Now I know that Captain America must survive the events of the film to be able to meet SLJ in the future, therefore totally ruining any tension.
OMG IT'S SINKING
But then I didn't realise they were on the Titanic until the boat came out the water and you could see the name written on the hull. That was a nasty surprise.
but it's really a Thursday for me seeing as I've got the final 2 days of the week off.
I'm hoping work goes quickly as I'm pretty excited about starting a new lot of home brew tonight after an aborted attempt on the weekend when I realised I didn't have a thermometer...
And I didn't get a seat on the train so I'm in a bad mood. Today will be crap and I will get through it by internet shopping.
I will purchase that today as I don't need to get trainers until the end of the week - YES. But I do need to buy glasses. but I will buy one.
I bought Submarine on DVD :D
Finished the 7th series of X Files last night. The quality control went downhill badly in that one, some absolute pearlers, but my god was there some dross.
Also, are waistcoats & tie without a suit jacket suitable for a wedding? Its being held at Merton Chapel in Oxford so Im painfully aware of making some kind of faux pas which will see me thrown out...I look like Im playing dress up in a suit jacket you see.
if you are 8 years old.
but now I'm in no position to judge.
As you were.
I'll take that as a 'no' then. Just a shirt and tie, is that ok? Please say thats ok.
If you add a waistcoat they'll just think you're in that painfully 'now' Mumford style band they've hired for the evening do.
I have no idea what I was thinking. I just wanted to look like a hobbit I guess. Thanks for the fashion advice......theo
Although... *everybody* looks like they're playign derss-up at weddings to an extent, so don't feel too much like you're the only one!
I love merton chapel. Is the reception being held in college?
I'm not sure actually - I assume so as the invitation didnt mention anywhere else, good place yeah? Im going to go to G&D's before the wedding aswell which will be nostalgic
drenched in sweat. Great.
The weather is pretty much summing up my mood at the moment.
Threatening to throw himself off a building on Portland St. Big crowd of people watching, just like in the films, weird thing to stand and spectate :(
or he's jumped?
Either that, or they were already consoling him on the ground. Still a big crowd.
I mean you could walk by this so easily in a city.
I guess he shouted or something.
It's ok to laugh now that he's not dead right?
Still nothing happening at work, the office is empty except for me and three other people, one of whom is the woman who hates me but I've never quite figured out why. She just offered to make tea for the other two people in the office, one of whom is a Mormon who doesn't even drink tea.
Today I will maybe go to a gig tonight, but I should save my pennies. Although I fancy going for a pint after work. IDK, wow my life is full of inner turmoil.
(assuming your in manchester)
been in there after a Bjork gig but didnt know it had a roof terrace.
Good find ME
dating back to 2008. DON'T MAKE ME POST THEM. WHY DO I EVEN CARE. We're through, QGP!
Loads of flowers and a cool old window and the lovely tiled walls and fairy lights, and I like sitting in the shadow of Beetham Tower and seeing all the hotel rooms lit up and stuff. A vast improvement on the Nag's Head roof terrace where you have to walk through one of the 'rent by the hour' hotel rooms to access the stairs up there! :(
don't think Ive ever been in the nags head.. think I may avoid it now too :/
Still not at work :(
My work today consisting of standing in a darkened room for four hours. At least it's always a nice temperature in there.
just found out The Bouncing Souls are playing Summer Vacation and Anchors Aweigh back to back TOMORROW NIGHT and I can't go. :'(
Though at least caught up on Breaking Bad S4 and painted my nails bright orange last night.
Correspondingly this morning is unexpectedly non-excellent.
Getting taken out for lunch today, though, so mustn't grumble.
did exercise and john petrucci lessons last night, sore hands and body
too sweaty and moist at the moment, couple more weeks and i am done with summer, i want it to be wet and cold and to be snuggly at home
not a widdler myself but the exercises at the start of his decades old 'rock discipline' book really help
Shit day. In hospital with Mrs, looks like a miscarriage
Really, really sorry man.
Tbh, pretty used to this kinda thing now.
and if not, that you're both ok ASAP xxx
really puts my own whinging in perspective. :(
Life goes on blah blah blah, whine away, please.
Also, I've got a load of wallpaper stripping to do when we finally get to go home like I can be arsed now! Mrs is dealing with it v well, dead proud of her.
Thoughts are with you x
I've got the doctors and the dentist today. Super Tuesday.
but chickenbones has kind of put things in perspective :( Hope they're ok.
Had an argument with bandmates last night- I can't be alone in thinking it's a ridiculous idea to play every single gig you get offered? Particularly if it's in your hometown where everyone's sick of you anyway, during a time when we're meant to be recording. Gonna quit later if I get too annoyed, I get my share of stupid decisions at work, don't need more of them at band.
I quit in a rage after being dragged to London, on a Tuesday night to play a Goldsmiths art fundraiser - I wasnt told any of this and we didnt get paid as our singer promised I went FUCKING MENTAL.
I think we'd be the only 'local' band, the two other bands aren't too exciting. Turnout's likely to be poor, it's slap bang in the middle of when we're meant to be recording, plus we already accepted a Damn You gig a couple of weeks later. It's an absolute no-brainer and I can't comprehend this 'play every gig' bullshit at all.
At least it doesn't involve driving to London, that would be proper annoying.
What Damn You show is it? I havent seen them do anything for aaaaaaages.
It's the first show they've put on for ages, feel quite chuffed that they asked us to play. Saw Picore a few years ago and they were ace! I think it would be quite twatty to announce that we're playing another show here a few weeks before that too.
at all your gigs it is a tad unwise to spread yourself thin by playing gigs close to each other in the same city. Tell them to bog off.
We've been saying all year we need to be more selective, it's not like we're struggling for gigs round here.
Mondays- well, you're still KNACKERED from the weekend and you have the raging fear. (maybe this is because I always have a big night out on a Sunday, hmmm?)
Anyway, Tuesday. I've noticed how colours can affect my mood lately. I sued to wear muted colours to work, like black/navy/gray/taupe with white, but lately I've been going for bold colours. Yesterday, I was in an electric blue pencil dress and I felt creative. Today, I'm in a red floaty dress and I feel assertive. I'm going to go and assert some stuff now :)
OMG you still hate Mondays? What are you? Like Garfield or something?! It's Tuesdays now FFS. You nerdalinger, jeez.
Don't tell me you're still hating on Thursdays, virgin?
It feels like I've been at work for at least 7 hours and it still isn't half ten. The middle of the week seems so far away as well.
I'm wearing my favourite pink shirt because it goes with my grey suit and it's suit jacket weather. Thanks for listening.
Or at least they're fine during the football season.
Now Thursday, there's a day that can fuck right off.
we shall dine in his garden and drink wine and have a splendid time.
I think I liked you better when you were emo.
I think I'll stick with smug.
You're a pretty incompetent self-loather.
my finger is mending, but my arm is aching. win some/lose some.
I'd like to point out I'ce already called ankle, I did so on Sat.
I'm taking knees.
like a BOSS
(I'm not a boss, in fact he seemed quite annoyed)
