Media should really focus on the human story and not the spectacle
I love the phrase "sentence him to anonymity"
ABB doesn't deserve what some would call the blessing of anonymity, he should not be mystified further.
i do however agree that it is probably a good idea to think twice about how he is portrayed. for example, use the recent pictures taken of him while he is in custody, rather than his own pictures from his "press kit".
yes, he wanted the attention, yes it sucks that his wish is in some ways being granted - but he still isn't achieving what he hoped for in winning people over, as all we see is a severely deranged man with a seriously sick mind.
the thing is, no matter how we (ie the public) treat him or talk about him etc, he will find some way to make it out, in his fucked up little world view, that he's still winning over us and is successfully carrying on with his "mission". we can't let that control how we talk about him.
and it's very difficult to try to argue against those who want to "censor" him, in a way, because it's all so emotional, and they're entitled to feel that way. and of course, i don't really want to *argue* with anyone just now.
