They're doing this a lot at the moment, huh?
yeah. but, unlike Splinter Cell / Halo / Prince of Persia, the GoldenEye for the Wii was a pretty decent remake. As good as it gets, I guess, and with Xbox Live... nice.
Little harsh there
now buy it with some bonus tracks and slightly scrubbed up sound' or 'you bought it on VHS, now buy it on DVD. Hang on. Shit. Can you buy it on blu-ray too?' philosophy.
Anyway, I played GOldeneye on the wii and it was shit. Really shit. Not a fan of the wii as an FPS console mind.
...I can only assume the love for it was misplaced nostalgia. It was absolutely rubbish. To be fair it must just have been nice for Wii owners to have a new game that wasn't a mini-game collection.
we get a very mediocre remake in name game which was barely the best online multiplayer game on the wii, a platform lacking in good online multiplayer games, only in amazing HD!!!! WOOOOOOOOW I CAN'T WAIIIIT
Bring on Abes Odysee HD
The XBL and PSN aspects of this are why I am so excited, and why I didn't buy it for the Wii. So, yeah, that's why I am excited. If it is similar to the Perfect Dark remake, but with better graphics and story, then count me in.
compared to the library of FPSs on 360 and PS3 it'll probably pail in comparison, also it won't be like the Perfect Dark remake, different developers.
One game was a true remake, the other isn't and guess which one isn't, it's not a bad game just nothing to get excited about.
...was a rubbish game.
I'm never buying a Nintendo console again but that's a whole kettle of fish that probably deserves its own thread.
I got some enjoyment from it so wasn't true rubbish
It was pretty faithful to the original and I liked it enough to play it through 3 times on hard, something I rarely do nowadays.
I suspect compared to the bounty you PS3 and Xbox owners have, it'll be a bit old hat. But it was a proper decent game I reckon barring the QTE boss fights.
Mainly because the controls were a dream and the spying side missions.
Wiimote FPS controls when configured well > Dual analogue > Wii FPS controls when not configured well
I refuse to believe and having played the Goldeneye remake I also fail to see it.
But I honestly don't see how people can think that a system where you rotate two sticks to crudely aim is more accurate than one where you use a mouse or Wiimote to, you know, point at stuff.
The trouble is that Goldeneye came set up with default controls that were a bit shit. But if you adjusted them slightly then they were properly awesome and responsive. They were a big part of why I enjoyed it so much, honest. That and the fact it was a bit old school (stealthily creeping around, side missions, unrelenting difficulty on hard, etc)
There's a superb interface waiting to happen, honest, it's just that sadly most of the 'hardcore' gamers just dismissed it rather than gave it a go or else had abandoned the Wii by then already. Maybe now they will, though I suspect it won't support Move sadly and as such look like a poor title when in actual fact it's really pretty damn good.
How to set up the controls properly:
