I'd say I've been to at least 40.
thinly-veiled (no pun intended) "i've been to lots of weddings" thread.
1 - my aunt and uncles wedding when I was about 7. I was a bridesmaid. I still have the dress in my wardrobe.
2 - my boyfriend at the times cousin's wedding. I was about 19 maybe. I very nearly caught the bouquet but his sister barged me out of the way.
Since I've been an adult: 6.
As a band, probably the same, maybe slightly more.
For a few years I had on avergae 9 weddings per year. I had to be really creative with my wardrobe to be able to afford to go to them all (lots of overlapping friends at multiple weddings, so can't just wear the same old outfit to teach one).
but had two in the last two weeks. one in Feb. Turned down another in Aug. Got another in Sept. It's that age I'm at.
with one next month
I went to one two weeks ago. Went to two engagement parties over the weekend...stagnight thing in 3 weeks and then a wedding in about 5 and half.
That's a lot of nuptials.
Would guess around 15-20. It's basically £400 out your pocket when someone announces "the best day of their life" isn't it? And do I get any thanks for choosing to not got married (for now)? Do I bollocks.
I don't wanna invite many people at all...best day of my life? That can fuck off as well.
My cousin got married on a beach in the turks and caicos. The bell hop was the witness, and I kinda like that.
I thought I'd been to a lot of weddings...
3 cousins, 2 friends, 1 family friend
think i only have one engaged friend at the moment too, so maybe there'll be some more on the horizon
my housemate went to 6 weddings in 7 weekends last summer, which seemed a bit excessive
I've been to five. And a sixth one this weekend. And that's 3 in the last year.
so probably about 30 with the ones i've forgotten about
One as a guest, one as a DJ
Got two next year, one as an usher (though to tell the truth still pretty crushed I wasn't asked to be best man)
Only about 2 by 'choice', though. With people I know there, like.
I used to work at a hotel on their wedding bar. It was pretty great, to be honest.
Though a very close friend of mine is getting married next year. Think I've got an outside chance of being the best man. Which would be great but a little bit scary as well.
The number one downside to having a gf is the amount of time you have to waste going to their friend's weddings
Not really sure. I have a big family and there's always one getting married off so I have lost count. Generally, weddings are a bit lame unless you're 'involved' aren't they? I always fall asleep in the ceremony cus I'm a dick. The finger buffet they put out at midnight at the reception is the best part I think. Or when the husband starts singing with the house band; my cousin sang Living Next to Alice with some kind of polka band on the SECOND DAY of his wedding reception in Krakow.
so not too many. generally slightly rubbish if family ones (depending on availability of booze), and really good if they were friends ones.
availability of free or at least cheap alcohol is the major important point. any wedding i've been to with one round of free drinks and then expensive hotel bar has been SHIT and leaves a bad (dry) taste in the mouth.
Two as a kid and my little sister's which was early last year. I think I found each one of them equally uncomfortable.
Which is a shame because I like weddings
I've just found out my best friend is getting married in February. This ruins my plans a bit. How selfish.
What proportion of the weddings you have been to have ended in divorce?
I have been to ten, of which three have got divorced, which is about on-trend I believe.
My mum is the Joan Collins of the Valleys.
