Masters advice
hi post-post graduate dissers, could anyone tell me a little bit about a masters degree please?
I'm looking at doing this one:
http://www.essex.ac.uk/coursefinder/CourseDetails.aspx?course=MA++Q20224
there's a whole bunch of modules there all worth different points, but does anyone know how many points you need to obtain a MA?
Any other advice / stories about the joys / hardships of doing a MA would be great too.
I was going to suggest this broadly...
...my masters is in economics and even that was probably not worth the time and expense in retrospect. I would recommend doing something more likely to lead to a career leg-up instead rather than just padding out your CV.
On a sidenote, at the time the dissertation seemed like the biggest piece of work ever humanely achieveable. 10 years on and it really doesn't seem like that big a deal.
i'm a sixth form teacher at the minute
so the plan is to do the masters and it'll hopefully get me on the path to becoming a university lecturer.
Also, there are practical / creative aspects to the course so kind of hoping that it'll push me into writing / filming something and see where it goes from there.
do you know how many points i need to get for the qualification? I remember for my degree it was 360.
My only masters related advice
would have been to do one as an undergrad as it's cheaper. Even that doesn't apply any more.
Always go for the green stuff
Never for the blue stuff or yellow stuff
