I always found it quite endearing.
but for some reason this really, really gets to me. I remember Plan B journalists used to use it a lot, it seems to be popular among poets too. I usually shudder and stop reading.
Shorten the word television to 'tele'. Really grinds my gravy that does.
If only there was another well known abbreviation of the word television in popular usage eh...
