Anyone got any recommendations for things to do? Going over there later today
Very expensive, couple of cool old military bits and bobs. The Little Mermaid statue is very underwhelming
since he IS going TODAY can we try and find something positive to say so he can salvage something out of this terrible terrible situation???
you get that bearo?
Wonderful Copenhagen has defo earned the right to call itself that.
Go up this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rundet%C3%A5rn
Have a wander around: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freetown_Christiania
and it has some nice bars and that. And definitely check out Christiania, it's pretty unusual.
It's a nice city just to amble about. You will see the mermaid as your curiosity will probably get the better of you but as stated already it is extremely underwhelming.
Spent a couple of days on Møn too - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%B8n. Pretty.
Eat a lot of pastries, they are excellent.
I'm heading over there on the 22nd for a couple weeks.
Here's a scatter gun paragraph of suggestions. Get yourself a bicycle if you can. The city is soooo cycle friendly. Avoid the Mermaid not worth seeing. You just missed distortion which is a shame. It's an outdoor street festival. I could be wrong but the Start Festival may be on this weekend. Vesterbro and Norrebro are my favourite neighbourhoods. Bang & Jensen in Vesterbro is a great little cafe. Check out Mikkeler for beer while your there. Cafe Tjili Pop is Norrebro is also great. I must spend 75% of my time in cafes when i visit. Buy some loose tea at AC Perch. Visit the design museum if anythng is on.
it'll be expensive but whatever right.
In Copenhagen thats all walled off and drugs are tolerated? kinda like a shanty town Amsterdam.
Atom and his package was playing at that place the day after i had to leave.
Someone tell me more of it please
My abiding memory of it is sitting having a drink, watching some guy repaint a 'no photos' wall mural/sign. And he was doing it so-o-o-o-o-o-o slowly and methodically. Maybe stoned. Maybe not. Either way, this is a shit anecdote (you had to be there) so imma shhut up.
Noted. Always heard it had a similar feel to Stockholm, which is awesome, so I thought I'd check it out. I'll definately have a wander round Christiana then
The little mermaid IS shit, but it's a really nice city just to wander around in, there's some really good bars (lots of jazz if that's your thing), the Danish resistance museum is well worth a visit, as are the round tower and walking the terrifying stairs (on the outside) to the top of Our Savior's Church. Really pretty (if a bit overtly touristy) around Nyhaven too. Christiana is kind of a hippy enclave/tourist attraction/Camden Market area, which is worth checking out but you might find it a bit depressing (I did).
To be honest though, the best attractions are a short train ride away: Frederiksborg and Kronborg Castles are really good, and best of all is the Louisiana museum of modern art. Even if you're not particularly into art (which I'm not) it's still one of the best museums I've been to.
^This fo sho.
Saw a Lichtenstein exhibition there. Great stuff.
then try and get a table for lunch at NOMA. it's £120 like, but it hear it's worth it.
Don't bother with the Tivoli though, it's a bit of a tourist trap.
and they're the best. So that's pretty good.
Best thing you'll ever do, and really good value for money as things go in Copenhagen.
