Donald birdies his first two holes. Eng-er-land.
Westwood one over, tournament over.
Some American like Mahan will probably win, McDowell's win last year has got people excited but the fact remains European victories at the US Open number two in about 80 years, even the likes of Faldo and Ballesteros couldn't do it.
Donald just dropped to one under. I agree with the brutality of US Open, near on impossible to predict a winner, obviously people say Mickelson is the favourite in any US based event, but i don't really fancy him.
Absolutely love it if Donald or Westwood won it, but it'll probably be a middle aged Yank 'coming of age', or an Oz/SA guy sneaking up at the last.
but I can't see Mickelson winning, he's had more than enough chances to win the US Open, especially 2006, where people forget he blew it as badly as Montgomerie did. That was a great final round that year, I love seeing winners who sneak up out of nowhere like Ogilvy did.
That didn't last long
and the back nine this year is a fecking monster even by US Open standards. The 18th is a 523 par 4 ffs and is elevated i think. If you don't hit the green in two you are screwed. No surprise that most of the low scorers up til now started at the first.
Think he'll be close to even after completing the front nine.
Hopefully he'll do better in the next few rounds, but his US Open record isn't amazing.
either live or highlights
US Masters final round to be mentioned endless times by commentators whilst he remains there.
Chris Gayle's laugh on SS3.
It's happening again!
what hole on Sunday will it all go pear shaped for RARY?!
Rory McIlroy is bidding to become first U.S. Open champion from Northern Ireland since 2010.
and two of those choked (not to mention poor old Kevin Costner in Tin Cup trying to go for the green in two) - only one finished on 10 under or better. St this rate it'll either be Tiger Woods in 2000 all over again or a(nother) really excruciating collapse.
nine shots clear now
Even if he does somehow choke again over the weekend, how can he not win a shitload of majors if he's playing like this when he's still just 22?
Rory you're rubbish mate
Still eight shots clear though
Then hooks his first shot. Oh Sergio.
You're making this really boring at the moment. Pretty good round from Westwood, he's probably kicking himself for his shit first round now.
However if he fullfils his potential over the forthcoming years it could become quite boring. I doubt he'll dominate like Woods though, don't think he's quite as good as Woods at his best, and also the field is a LOT better at the moment than it was the last 10 years.
Fortunately for all entrants, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il will not be playing. If the official government media is to be believed, Kim is easily the greatest golfer, the world has ever seeen.
Pyongyang media say Kim enjoys golf, having shot multiple holes-in-one during his first try at the game. He reportedly aced five holes and finished 38 under par on the golf course. The “Dear Leader” routinely shoots three or four holes-in-one per round, the government-controlled media reported.
So...predictions on who'll be runner-up?
that is all.
Rory, you're shit mate.
rory, this is embarrassing.
Fuck up a bit please make it exciting.
here's hoping it helps put an end to Odd Future
i'm sitting here next to my dad thinking that bottle of port looks a bit shit now.
but a good square kick in the ass to all other golfers. He is really good for the game.
SIXTEEN UNDER SODDING PAR
What a great swing he has and he could go on and win a lot of majors!
