:( but its a good way to bow our
:( ragin! but this season was nowhere near as good. I think they might of lost their ability to write a good one. It felt like they were making them for the sake of it.
hopefully its not the end
and at the very least a big finale if its going to end completely.
They obviously seen that they could not take south park any further than they had and it was becoming a bit stale. It's good that they did not push it too far.
The rest of the world seems to think that they are contracted for only the next 7 episodes.
likely to not feel that they are morally obliged to keep to restrictive contracts?
Perhaps you havn't noticed the themes of their programs, where they tend to challange accepted norms of american and western popular thought?
Do you really think that they couldnt get out of that contract by merely upping the ante and either a) making their programs deliberately unfunny and downbeat or b) push it far too far for the network to handle....in fact that could even give them more incentive.....make southparks that are too divisive to US society than the network could take....do more stuff about US problems, stuff the gov doesnt want exposed.....I can think of loads of programs they could do (that would be too tragic to be funny) and im sure they could........I think only a foolish network controller would try to 'make them create programs'
quick run down of possible future ideas
Also, most tv contracts have pull out clauses for both the artist and the network. Its more of a "we will pay you this IF you do this". Not HAHAHA NOW WE HAVE YOUR SOUL. MAKE US SOME TV!!!
It certainly isn't the last episode, as they are already promoting the next 7. Because of the last-minute nature of the writing of the episodes, the mood they are in at that moment dictates the content - if they find inspiration in the next few months then I'm sure they will be happy to continue.
Basically, I believe they made the episode to back themselves into a corner. They have 2 choices: either end the show, or make some serious changes to a frankly waning formula. It's also (amongst other things) a reaction to the cynicism of fans, who have consistently commented on the internet about new episodes saying 'well that was shit' regardless of whether they actually are or not for some years now.
Best episode in ages anyway.
it was either something they did off a whim last week when they realised they didn't have any ideas for this week's episode or this is the first step in winding down the series which will ultimately end at the end of this season or they're changing the set-up of the show. This series has been the shittest so far by quite a distance, and it either needs to be shaken up or ended soon. As mentioned above most things point towards this being the last series for which they are contractually obliged. I don't know where this 2013 talk came from...
