This wasn't on the news: http://youtu.be/I8vtIQVV5qg
Just saw it.
I don't know if that's normal and I just noticed it weird, but the way he says it it seems like he doesn't want to acknowledge that she rules all of Britain.
scotland's in england, right.
but if that's what he does, then yeah, i agree.
nothing has ever been so important
This man can do no wrong recently. Great speech. He was here to raise spirits and it was visibly obvious that he did it. I was happy to be there, been a massively important week or so for Ireland. Hopefully things will change for Ireland soon, not just financially.
yeah that was pretty hilarious to be fair.
coolest guy on earth.
Think Ireland needed a bit of a boost to be honest. It's been a depressing hole of a country for a while and also been a bit of a laughing stock. Don't think you really understand that the worlds most powerful president coming over to talk to the Irish people might have some significance.
Apart from the country being in absolute tatters, he highlighted the fact that we should be proud that in the last week or so, as a country, we have proved to have matured and finally overcome any grudges that may have been still present against the UK. He gave several thousands of people a reason to go into the capital, watch a free concert, witness one of the most important political figures in the world at the moment give a speech and most importantly, gave them a little bit of hope that not all is "doom n' gloom". The morale boost was certainly felt last night and today. It was a great idea.
(Plus, I got to see secret service fuckers standing in windows of various buildings with giant guns =D)
we were at the very back, were in the queue for ages. We could have been closer if it was not for people wandering around thinking they knew where they were going.
Then we realised that to get closer I would have had to throw away my bag so we just watched it on the screen up near the end of Dame st. The view was unreal and the atmosphere was impossible to describe, even if there were a good few troublemakers/scumbags just there to start shit.
there's no-one as Irish as Barack O'Bama
Every photo of it I've seen in the papers has it full nearly to the top
