greggs, hampsons, sayers, local bakers, etc.
never once seen a man working in one
its just a temp thing until he can save up enough to go travelling though.
he's a lurker here too (hi frank)
i wasn't there when that came to light but that's the gist of it
It was very much a confusion of virtue and vice. On one hand, an easy job, infinite free steak bakes and whatever sandwiches were left at the end of the day vs. the fact that you left the place covered in a thin film of grease and everything you touched smelt of bakery.
And what about Mr Bun the Baker?
It was called "crusties".
Breaking off into other bakery related issues:-
Has anybody else noticed the substantial increase in novelty bread shops over the past 5 years?
Is possibly the HOTTEST guy ever. EVER.
They all look the same to me.
world's greatest human
What absolute bellends.
greggs vs a proper place where they make nice bread and stuff.
and a proper place a 'bakery'?
greggs is for poor people.
I have become a massive bread ponce of late and pretty much only make my own. I don't think I've ever bought any bread from Gregg's, although I have bought a cheese and onion pasty (are they pasties or slices? Who knows?).
They call the flashy places artisan bakers which is a hideous term.
He is male.
I have witnessed three of his staff, who were males, working within said establishment, also as bakers.
when i was at school, i worked in a bakery shop (not in the part that actually made the bread and cakes and stuff, i just sold it). the manager (well, she called herself manageress) insisted that only women work with us and whenever a man handed in a job application, she threw it in the bin. maybe it's commmon practice.
and gordon brown's brother was a regular customer. we could have had our very own less extreme version of bigotgate!
One, calling Greggs a baker feels a bit wrong somehow. Two, the baker round the corner from me is owned by and employs men. Thank you for your time.
You were wrong. Soz
I've yet to see a female butcher, though. Wazzupwitdat?
AS LONG AS THEY DON'T SHOVE IT IN MY FACE.
