So where are we with that at the moment then? Have we all realised yet that she's just a massive twat?
I think we're still waiting for the moment that people realise she makes fairly boring pop music.
I think she's far more stimulating than a lot of the successful mainstream acts out there (this doesn't mean she's a genius though). And I quite enjoy her music when out for dancing to; it might be fairly boring but she does it well. Why all the hate? Personally I'm quite happy that she's the dominant artist at this moment - we could have to abide with much worse.
So I guess, in fact, any hate should be aimed towards her fans and admirers. But she's still a twat.
as 'so innovative and daring'.
Yeah, compared to ALL current music and that of the past Lady Gaga is boring as hell. The readership of DiS is not going to find anything new in it. But when you think of the scope of musical awareness of the sorts of people who fuel the itunes charts and download the stuff they hear in clubs and occasionally on the radio, Lady Gaga may well be the most interesting thing they hear.
Wearing stupid clothes and make-up and ramming gimmicks into your music, like saying your own name over and over again, and even having that name in the first place and insisting people use it to refer to you as if it's your real name, are all indicators of an immensely dull person attempting to compensate for her fundamental vapidness.
And you all love Chomsky too. Basically, you can't love both Noam Chomsky and Lady Gaga. The two are incompatible. It's time to choose sides.
is the word I'd use.
She was on American Idol last night. You know, she does her Madonna rip-off schtick, and people give her credit because she can play the piano. *snore* "Get more dramatic with your performance." *snore again*
I can appreciate a good pop song as much as the next indie snob. But Lady Gaga...erm, really? No. She's C-minus all the way.
Before she'd only slightly annoyed me a bit.
I think it's this new album and the concept behind it. 'Born This Way' and the sentiment in it is a really hideous thing to put into a pop song by an, allegedly, 'progressive' artist. It's obvious who the target audiences of the song are, but one of the things that really pisses me off about her most is that even though she's spouting off about being born THAT way or THIS way, she is possibly the most fake thing I've ever seen in my entire life.
She's probably really, ridiculously insecure in herself and maybe takes a whole bunch of prescription drugs in order to stabilise this crushing futility that is her life, and just goes along with whatever a record company has encouraged her to say, which includes all this crap about being yourself and yadda yadda yadda. And then she comes out as this colossal drag queen from the abyss with fucking IMPLANTS in her face and shoulders to make them pointy.
I think we'd just be better off if she died, really.
I think mainly her stuff was a bit shite until that trio of hits (Bad romance / Telephone / Alejandro) and I thought she had turned a corner. She went a bit odd, seemed to be very hard to pin down and had a live show like something a more mainstream Knife tribute band would do.
But then when you hear Born this way, the new one and see that she's playing the Radio 1 Lincoln Big Day out, it totally burst her bubble. And I remembered how average her stuff was before that run.
She needs to get good again. Or at least find some decent tunes that are 'hers'. These last two, OTT videos aside, could have been recorded by any old pop star.
has annoyed a huge portion of her gay fanbase:
IS LADY GAGA HEADING FOR A FALL?
I was a wee bit larruped on the ale when I wrote that last night (whoops), but it didn't come out to badly and I got a few of the things I wanted to say in.
But yeah, that article is completely what I wanted to say, even right down to how bloody offensive it is.
IS LADY GAGA KILLING MUSIC?
