I went swimming for the first time in what I reckon must be at least 14 years yesterday. The good news is that I remain capable of swimming. The bad news is that I'm no longer capable of swimming to what most self-respecting swimmers would deem an acceptable standard. The embarassing news is that I am now considering signing up to some lessons, but I've not yet decided if my bruised ego could take it.
So, I have two questions.
a) How good a swimmer are you? Apparently, 85% of people who swim regularly receive no aerobic benefit from it because their technique is terrible. Reserach makes me feel slightly better.
b) Could you stomach the embarassment of taking lessons, as an adult, for an activity you really should have got good enough at as a child? And either way, would you tell an internet forum of people about it using your real name?
