do you ever daydream in advertising?
like...when your brain is wandering, you come up with ideas for adverts based on your current surroundings or actions.
i've had two corkers recently...
1) i saw some sandwiches left on a wall. this made me think of an advert for bread or any sort of filling condiment. basically, you play on the idea that 'sandwiches' are crap. floppy, soggy, flat, crap. but a 'sandwich'....is a thing of beauty. sandwiches, plural, suggest packed lunch. a sandwich, singular, is artisan.
so you have loads of depressed people being asked what they have for lunch, and they reply sadly, 'sandwiches'. but then you have a smug guy at the end being asked what he has for lunch, and he smiles and says, 'a sandwich'.
s'fucking genius that is.
i've also got another one for Nike running in which a guy is jogging along a seafront...then he puts fuck buttons 'surf solar' on his ipod as he runs. as the track starts playing, his world changes to this blade runner meets The Road type dystopian landscape. he runs along to this until the song finishes and his world goes back to normal and he finishes his run. and the slogan would be..'Nike running....go places'. or something. the slogan needs work.
anyway. i can only think that i've watched too much mad men or i secretly do want to become a fetid copywriter.
what was the last advertising campaign you daydreamed?
