Currently fiveplayering (if that's what you call it) the first episode.
the first season covers maybe half of the first volume, and then veers away wildly.
season 2 is going to be 13 episodes.
The comic is up to issue 83.
And it's been mentioned in a couple of interviews that the series might not stick that closely to the source material.
There's a few clunky "Why are you doing that you fuckwit" moments in the last couple of episodes. It is patchy throughout though, but then again, so was the comic.
The last five minutes of the first episode are pretty much what my very worst nightmares are made of.
It will not get much better, I finished the first season and wasn't blown away by it. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised with the potentially longer second season.
It went steadily downhill from there though with only a few flashes of greatness. Will keep up with it for the second season though, had enough about it to persevere with.
That's what i'm watching now.
it's not a pilot really, it's just the first episode, but it's longer, like 70 minutes instead of 50
seems good so far.
thoroughly enjoyed it.
Good series, but not great.
Michael Rooker chained to a pipe on the roof = brutal
and thought it was brilliant. One of my fav progs of the last 5 years. Better than all that Lost, Flash Foward, The Event typr rubbish. Zombies FTW!
I'm not one of these OMG THEY CHANGED THE ENDING, but the first TPB of the comic was pretty much perfect. Why they veered away with that crock of shit at the end I do not know
Well paced and atmospheric. Good acting too (apart from maybe his mate at the start in the cop car).
However, alarm bells rang when I saw his mate with his wife. A tedious rivalry story to follow no doubt. Put me in mind of Cassidy and Tulip in Preacher but that was pretty cool thinking about it, so who knows.
Second episode was good. The bit with the handcuffed redneck screaming as they left was amazing. Need to see it again as I was at work and only managed to sort of half-watch it. Not sure about climbing zombies who also pick up bricks to smash windows but that's just me. I guess you set your parameters and work within them for this sort of thing.
Overall, promising but I'm a little apprehensive. Reading this thread seems to have confirmed that.
as others have said, seemed to generally slide down in quality compared the excellent first episode, but there were some excellent sequences in and around this downward trajectory to make me want to watch the second.
The bit when the sister is killed then rises is heartbreaking and wonderful.
