on, or anywhere near that website
but i could read bob's story! thank christ for that.
They've got a Facebook page, but that's just a couple of people asking how they apply.
April 1st was ages ago y'know...
Oh God the wackiness...
whenever the MI side of the industry gets behind *anything* as the sole sponsors, you know it's going to be something terrible.
I'll put money down now on the 'winners' of whatever unsigned competition they'll have there being a five-piece funk metal outfit from Wolverhampton. They always, always are.
like, equipment? None of those logos appear to be clickable.
But yes, your predictions sound accurate.
It, um, links back to the same page.
the sad thing is, when regular promoters put on unsigned/grassroots event, they're invariably awesome. This could have been one of those.
But this will have been put on by someone called Greg who's student dissertation was about iTunes revolutionising the money-making potential of unsigned bands, and will therefore be filled with shred-nerds in 36 Crazyfists t-shirts, slightly gawky looking women in PVC they can't pull off and an astonishingly low turn out.
you've all read Bob's Story by now - http://www.livefest.co.uk/bobs-story/
brought a tear to my eye.
when you see he's been impaled up through the arse by the O2.
in so many ways
best video ever.
the website design company that built this... yeah. Their page is just a dodgy wordpress theme with some cheerful plastecine-looking stock photos.
GET ME MY CHEQUE BOOK.
It was originally launched near me, and was cancelled when the original venue pulled out citing that the guy behind it was a massive bullshitter. It still seems massively, MASSIVELY dodgy.
*WHICH FESTIVALS AREN'T LIVE?*
'she was optimistic about doing better next year'!!!!!
It appears no lessons were learnt
if the line up was amazing. Underage Festival is dry, (sorry to state the obvious...) and they seem to do alright.
For its first half it goes on about how bad an idea a dry festival is and how that must be what caused it, and then in the middle starts spewing other factors, none of which are "nobody's heard of anyone playing and yet you expected 1500 people to show up?"
More acts to be announced soon... Keep checking back...
or the band with almost the same name as the worst band ever? I can never remember.
I bet Attack! Attack! are fairly shit too though.
make sure your sound is turned up nice and loud.
Now, if Bob can book that 'This is not my city' band to play I will genuinely, 100% go to this.
Oh man :''''''D
and as is so often the case, they are really lovely blokes, and watching them do an acoustic set, pretty talented.
But yeah. Still pretty bad.
I've had my lawyers look at this and it is correct under the Musical Awesomeness Act of 1872
and hopefully kill themselves over what an embarrassment they are
that's a bit harsh.
attack! attack! is NOT attack attack! of crabcore fame
of the promoter in Leicester who a few years ago booked the Futureheads into a venue that doesn't usually put gigs on, booked six college bands as support as buy-ons, then pulled the gig a week in advance when the venue worked out what was going on? And then advertised a rescheduled gig with no support for a date in the middle of an already advertised Futureheads Australian tour?
I shit you not.
I wonder what kind of person went?
I suppose it was only £25, which is reasonable.
Hmm not sure.
Bez, the drummer from the Libertines and the drummer from
Guillemots (which they went ahead and advertised as the Guillemots playing).
What a mess.
No, all info from revisiting the website i'm afraid :(
