horrible, isnt it?
where i didnt have to be facing the biggest gobshite ever!!
best office i ever had was when i was PA for the airport manager
plus im facing a busy corridor, and get distracted easily by people walking past
i think i get less done when i have my own office. I need to be in view of a boss or something. I have no real responsibilty in this current job and the least pay ever. Dossing is my main task.
In fact, what am i doing in here. I need a new job.
give me ideas
you could set your bin up so you can throw things into it from across the room, maybe a couple of bins with a scoring system - the further away the more points.. Go for a nap, watch stuff on the internet. Make an animation flick book with a note pad
so many things
due to work load, internet filters, and the chances of people coming in. throwing stuff into bins could work though
Which would be great in some ways, but clearly not a very tenable position in the long run.
Look at you Mr fat cat!
did have own office, then when i moved company everyone is now in an open plan. pros and cons on either side.
much prefer it. feel like i'm out of loop already.
I wish I still did. I used to watch iPlayer at lunch and take naps on quiet afternoons. Now I have to share I can't do that but I don't get any extra work done, if it's quiet or I'm being lazy I just pretend to work and time goes so much more slowly.
in a really shit job I quit after 3 weeks. Having an office on my own was part of the reason why it was so shit. So lonely and hard to work in!
They're really great offices though. You could plan a reasonably sized war from the desks.
i regularly close the door, crank up the tunes and have a little dance
I'd like it if I worked with a load of people in seperate office but going into work and sitting alone until 5pm is soul destroying. It has its plus points that you can watch tv shows throughout the day but the days go so slowly and its awful. I've bee alone for 8months and now is the point where its too depressing that I can't go in anymore.
there are people i can talk to outside, for a break, but its still rubs.
our team was on rota, and everyone had to spend a week alone there. Also being in that office involved only doing a little bit of work once every two hours, rest of the time, nothing. And you don't see or speak to anyone the whole week. Some people were climbing the walls by the end of the their weeks.
+ can watch DVDs, listen to music, do your own stuff
- you go mental
Hated it, proper lonely. Turned me into a workplace hermit. Nine of us here all in one room, much better.
I hated the job and hated being so isolated. There are times when I wish people couldn't see my screen or people around me would shut up but having your own office can be BALLS
sharing an office with decent folks > having your own office > sharing an office with cretins.
I used to have my own office when I was 'acting assistant principal' and it sucked.
Now I'm back to being a normal teacher I share an office with a couple of other English teachers, who are a good laugh and with the Maths department who are crotchety old women who run the photocopier all day. Still, I'm a lot happier.
i had a big dinner last night, about the size of a small poodle
