Did other people know this? Why did nobody tell me? Was there a memo?
if you get a silicone cupcake/muffin paper-replacement thing, crack an egg in, put some butter or oil on top and baked it on high-ish until the white is solid, you get basically a sofy boiled egg in a funny shape
So maybe I'll give the baked egg a go next...
Why didn't I think of doing this?
How long do you bake it for roughly?
I've had it for a year and think I've used it twice...
you eat chicken periods
you sick fuck
... are also vastly underrated. Crack one into a little dessert pot (forgotten what they're actually called) and put in microwave for about 40 seconds- Ta-da. Good for when at work.
or ramequin, if you want to claim extra posh points
We're just living on borrowed time.
using the cling film method. one came out beautifully and the other uh...not sure what happened there but when i went to tip the egg onto my toast only the yolk fell out. i took it as a sign from the gods that i should avoid the rest of that eggwhite and enjoyed.
and show your working.
Having weighed up my options, and being unaware of the poached egg in microwave route, I reasoned that since I had some egg poaching rings that hold the egg in place, there was no reason why they couldn't be cooked from above rather than below.
My approach was as follows:
a) Preheat grill
b) Grease a baking tray
c) Grease the inside of the poached egg rings
d) Break eggs into poached egg rings
e) Put a little butter on top
f) Put under grill until they looked about cooked.
It was a bit messy and they didn't quite stay inside rings but I ended up with two eggs half-way between fried and poached with a runny but not too runny yolk. The washing up was a pain but they were definitely no worse (and probably better) than when I fry eggs the normal way.
Effectively poached in boiling oil.
kinda poached in dripping. Delicious.
just crack them into the toaster and then pull out the crumb tray when they are done.
you can also cook them by holding a torch upright and cracking them onto the glass. stand perfectly still though! x
in the process of cooking eggs are SCUM. Just so you know like.
