for those who are interested in this type of thing it's very much worth watching
I seem to remember the Croatian Lonely Planet had a really bad history section at the beginning compared to how well they normally set things out, leaving us to assume it was a pretty murky story.
Whether I'll get the time to watch all of it is another matter. :(
and have been trying to read up on the history/the war etc. Not got very far, haven't quite got my head round the nationalistic/religious divides - will have a watch of this when I get home.
the standard two. Might be able to do a day out in the sticks somewhere.
having been to Croatia, Slovenia and Mostar and not really gathered much other than that it's a very complicated and fascinating area. And obviously its recent history hasn't even been written yet.
I'll have to have a gander at that later on.
but i'm on the serbian side. fuck kosovo.
with an eye for an eye mentality, they don't take any shit.
the serbs were a major factor in helping the soviets win the eastern front during ww2. croatia was a nazi puppet state and kosovan albanians ethnically cleansed serbs during that time. over half a million serbs were killed at concentration camps such as jasenovac.
there was no bloodshed in slovenia or macedonia. of course there were vile atrocities on both sides but given serbia's history it's kinda understandable.
serious response: There was nothing about Srebrenica or Gorazde which qualified as "kinda understandable".
very good. And kind of mental.
pretty scary stuff, no one came out smelling of roses but some came out of it looking far more culpable than others
