he's guaranteed non-stop entertainment
we'll have free rein to play him. Especially against Spurs/Man Utd/Stoke please.
Getting that desperate is it?
is a bit like the title race in the Premiership, the winner will be the least worst team who pretty much limp over the line
I dont actually believe you deserve and if you get dicked say 10 points you will still win the league, but it wont hurt Leeds will it?
Let's be honest none of us really know what on earth the FA will do, the words 'consistent' and 'FA' don't really make for good bed fellows. When judgement day arrives I'm sure either myself, LLB or Raanrals will start a seperate thread and we can all pontificate over the rights and wrongs. You lot need to stop leaking so may at the wrong end and you'll be in with a chance in all seriousness.
points deductions are pretty rare in the Premiership/Football League. I remember how weird it was when Middlebrough got points deducted in 1997 for refusing to play a league game (especially as it got them relegated in the end).
In the eyes of the FA, QPR has fielded a player they shouldnt have. It could be argued that this has had a positive result within games played so a money fine doesnt really fit the the apparent crime. I hope they dont get docked but if the FA chooses to pursue it i dont think they can dish out anything else
And apparently it was QPR who raised a potential issue with the league.
From what I've heard we'll get around 3 points, possibly pushed down to 1 or none depending on how good our case is/how the FA feel that day
I don't entirely mean that as taking the piss re the West Ham thing but I haven't yet seen him say anything publicly about how he equates the two...
From what I've heard we signed him, registered him, discovered a problem, alerted the league and made the correct remedies.
The bigger problem in this case is the unlicensed agent rather than player registration
A security guard says no, but then some random Hoops fan totally rounds on the camera man. It's awesome
I'm going to file this alongside their 'Man Utd to sign Ribery in the summer' and 'Inter Milan might bid for Gareth Bale at some point, possibly' super scoops.
given the continued Glazer penny-pinching I don't see him being offered a new one at this stage
The title is in the bag.
the way it's reported today people seem to be still going on about it
But it's the right decision by Cappello. English players/fans/journos buy into the whole idea of the captaincy being a big deal, especially for the national team so it would have been pretty obtuse of Capello to just start passing it round like against Denmark. Plus Terry plays better with the armband.
Apparently Jens has said he's looking forward to his role on the bench and he will be "very supportive of Almunia this time". Down with this sort of thing.
as everyone's constantly said, it's not made him any less of a leader on the pitch and (for all I dislike the guy and think he was found out horribly at the world cup when not alongside a quality centre back) he's largely done ok for England since being stripped of the captaincy.
Having made his decision, I don't think Capello should go back on it and make Terry 'club' captain again, but there's no reason that the armband had to avoid him in a situation like Denmark... if the captain/vice captain aren't available and no-one more suitable is around, then by all means let him do it.
You mean he couldn't do two people's jobs at once. That's fair enough really.
but I think we'll have to agree to disagree.
His performance against Germany was almost schoolboy. You can only use Upson as so much of an excuse. Terry was just as culpable.
Never denied that (although I think playing him, inexplicably, on his wrong foot was a shit decision). I denied that he'd been 'found out'.
I know he prefers playing as the left centre half but always thought he was useful with both feet.
(as you say) on the left side. To be completely honest with you, I don't know which is his natural side- he's never looked weak enough on one for me to notice.
but I wish more players were like that. Good on either foot.
Ferdinand & Gerrard won't be fit for the Wales game so Terry fills in. Of course Lampard is fit, so does Fabio not giving it to him mean he's thinking of playing Wilshere or Parker instead?
Capello is after a permanent captain and has expressed (not explicitly, mind. That'd be rude) that he doubts Ferdinand's ability to be that.
it sounds like his doubts about Rio are mostly fitness based. Terry has hardly been the most robust of figures over the last 18 months - 2 years. If he's really after giving it to someone else, it should be Cashley or Frank.
He said himself in a recent interview that he's not been fully fit for about 6 years. Regardless, he doesn't compare to Rio- Ferdinand has managed 4 England appearances in the last year and only 20 games (the website I'm looking at is a few weeks out of date) for his club this season. Terry, on the other hand, has very rarely missed an England game and managed 34 club starts this season, despite injuries.
give it to Barry?
that prompted Capello's seeming change of heart ...
According to the Swiss FA there's no damage to bones or ligaments and they're hoping he'll be fit for their game next week.
Having resigned myself to seeing Koscielny and Squillachi together for the rest of the season, the prospect of Jo Djo only missing the West Brom game is fuggin glorious
he'll probably break his leg or something.
Beating West Brom and Djourou recovering are pretty much vital now.
but a few days away from our medical staff is probably exactly what he needs.
Every game from now till United come to town is must win. If we can reach that game within 3 points and with them potentially facing a Champions League Semi and Chelsea at OT in the same week then we really do have a chance.
Pre game: He's not fit.
During game: Player gets injured or limps off after 20 minutes.
After game: He wasn't fit and is out for the season.
Next game 4 days later: Player starts
Repeat until Arsenal are out of all 4 competitions.
I'd say the medical staff don't really know their arse from their elbow.
really like this
Melodramatic bullshit about a match where Spurs got spanked.
People jizz on about that match as if it was some huge achievement, almost forgetting that they conceded 4 and managed to capitalise on the complacency such a huge margin would produce.
Good hat-trick, don't get me wrong. But soft-piano music and gay little dancing crayons? No thanks.
and then capitalising on opposition complacency the exact way that the bin dippers won the Champions League?
I mean, he's already a mug for taking the armband off him in the wake of a media controversy which seems to have had little basis and then handing it to two player's whose previous poor behaviour has been very publically documented and hadn't enjoyed as much success as captain's at club level, but still ...
I really can't wait for Chelsea's England players to retire from international duty. No doubt many others feel the same, albeit for very different reasons!
Obviously they're all complete pricks (well Terry and Cashley anyways), but Cole is still comfortably England's best left back, Terry is certainly one of the best 4 English centre backs, (though I wouldn't start him if everybody's fit) and Lampard is, at worst a very useful squad member.
Generally I couldn't care less about England, but there is a fortnight every other year when I actually do give a shit about them and if they went to the Euros next summer without those 3 in the squad it would be significantly weaker.
at the 7 or so England games I've been to, Lampard has got more stick than the other two.
Compared to most of the core England squad he's kept his nose relatively clean in the last couple of years and over the last 12-18 months I've preferred him to Gerrard in an England shirt.
I'm far from Frank's biggest fan, but of the three he would get off so much more lightly than Cole or Terry.
Cole and Terry usually reproduce their club form (or at least something like it) for England, while Lampard doesn't. What doesn't explain is how the likes of Rooney and Gerrard get away with it ... Hey ho.
but then Lampard plays a different role in an England shirt than he does at Chelsea. He doesn't have the same license to get forward and funnily enough, he's grown on me in the last 12 months or so as I've come to appreciate that myself. Added to that, he's probably the most eloquent member of the England squad by quite a distance.
As you say, Rooney and Gerrard deserve at least as much derision from England fans given their efforts in a 3 Lions Shirt recently.
aw man I miss C.Ronaldo and his repertoire of hilariously infuriating flicky-toe tricks :(
I have no faith in the current set-up as it is. Don't like the senior players or the manager and the next competition isn't for ages.
England news is mainly an excuse for people who support small clubs to get their loud on and start whinging about big players with moral authority.
What does that actually mean?
A 4-0 defeat would be a modicum of revenge for our 8-1 defeat at their place last month.
Do us a favour!!!
I wasn't, but reports from both sets of fans weren't good.
I think Hendon were clumsy, rather than dirty, and both sets of players were harassing the ref all game. A pretty routine win for us in the end. Still unbeaten at home! If we do do the job, keeping that record would be the icing on the cake. Winning the title at home against Carshalton on Easter Monday would be the cherry on the top!
wondered where you had got to.
Mostly because there are few non-Chelsea supporters who can manage to hold a conversation about John Terry without foaming at the mouth.
If so then I've been pretty mega busy.
If not, then carry on :)
Old news? Still, lovely stuff.
they haven't won so many games (not away from home in the league anyway), it's just the chasing pack are all being useless.
but it is/would be mighty impressive
Beating Barcelona en route to the European Cup, that might be.
marseille are rubbish
having a world-class goalkeeper.
No odds on bet 365 apparently.
My god this would be a heck of result if it stays like this after 6 defeats on the spin.
Cheers Hendon. I'll take that!
is truly inscrutable
so, yeah, pretty much
i think he's just a bit stumpy
...inter 3-2 up (3-3), and are leading on away goals.Pandev just scored a cracker.
going through on away goals
If there was a benevolent god he'd have given Marseille another goal
unless absolutely everyone was fit and on form.
I think we actually played better than we have done, yet still a bit complacent. Good to see Valencia settling so easily back into the team. Lovely pass for the goal.
scholes + carrick as a 2 is madness for the rest of the competition now.
if we bag one trophy i think we should be very happy.
rethink the midfield in the summer.
Rio Ferdinand will always remember his first day at Manchester United and the childlike excitement of pulling on the strip. "I was thinking to myself: 'These are Man United socks, this is how they feel. This is how the shirt feels, these are their shorts.'" Then he went out for his first training session and, bang, Roy Keane was screaming in his face.
Ferdinand had made the mistake of taking the safe option, playing a nice, easy pass to his nearest team-mate. He remembers Keane "went mental and barked: 'Pass the fucking ball forward.' I looked at him, his face all contorted, and he goes: 'It's fucking easy going sideways, pass it forward.'"
at one point. You don't really think of central midfielders lacking confidence, it always seems to be strikers and goalies, yet it does seem like Carrick is devoid of any belief in himself at the moment. Baffling.
