anyone got a live stream?
will Banksy show? Does graffiti pay?
can you be arsed to stay up?
a bit self-satisfying, but it's cool and you hear about a lot of cool films i wouldn't have heard of otherwise
they're on youtube as well.
Not that the King's Speech is bad, but TSN has so much more depth.
i can';t keep up
Marrisa Tomei has still got it
Trent reznor gets best score.
Bale gets best supporting.
Toy story 3 gets best animated.
These are all things I thought was going to happen. OSCARZ IN MY HED.
Banksy better win too.
Who would have guessed that Hollywood favors movies about overcoming obstacles? OBSTACLES!
Also, I'm happy that the Oscars decide to reward a picture for acting, directing, screenplay and best picture. Not to say that any of the other films didn't have all bases covered, but I can't remember the last time (American Beauty, maybe?) a winner taking all four key facets (picture, director, lead actor, screenplay)
but it's so fucking traditional.
we don't love it. British dramas are one rung above root canals. "Ah, class structure for a theme, what a novel idea!" Snore. It's like whenever there isn't a classic Best Picture nominee, the voters will defer to the artsy Brit film, no matter how boring it is.
That said, I didn't see the movie, so, you know... I could be wrong.
are It Happened One Night, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest and The Silence of the Lambs. American Beauty missed out on Best Actress (to Hilary Swank in Boys Don't Cry)
I meant actor/actress rather than both. It's rare to get best actor and actress nominees for the same. Still can't believe Hopkins won lead actor for that. Nor can I believe Hilary Swank has two best actress wins. As far as Oscar nonsense goes, Social Network losing to a superior film is way down the list.
Trent reznor won an Oscar. The man who wrote closer now has an academy award
There's still time...
Although she also said she'd be more famous than Madonna. Probably gonna have to let that one go.
Would have preferred The Social Network or Black Swan to have won but The King's Speech is very good so no real complaints, it's better than Forrest Gump beating Shawshank/Pulp Fiction anyway in terms of Oscar wins.
King's Speech good but a bit grey
Social network should have cleaned up, Bardem for best actor, Portman not winning.....even Roger Deakins got overlooked. Pah.
I thought her performance was astonishing even before I realised how young she was. It's a bit nuts she was nominated for support given she was the lead character.
as they felt it might be a more open field than Best Actress. She probably should have won, but kids seldom win Oscars (Anna Paquin and Tatum O'Neal are the only ones that spring to mind since the 70s anyway).
