As far as I can tell that guy just above understands the law and has no reason to lie so I suspect it may be that Assange's defence's arguments don't carry too much weight legally and an appeal won't succeed.
Not to say he won't do it, and it'll probably buy him a few months' time, but I can't immediately see on what ground the appeal judge will change his mind.
I'm guessing you don't have to prove much to make someone at least stand a proper trial, but from what I've heard everyone just expects this to take ages and for him to appeal even if it is a waste of time
