i say both. hear me out.
for one thing, people who have to overcome massive physical deformities are basically just playing the life misery supression game on a much harder level. imagine the water temple on ocarina of time, except instead of water it's black tar.
so with that in mind, choosing both legs kind of makes the misery adapt to you, instead of you adapting to the misery. you've got one leg, people will be like "that's really sad, here are some grapes" then after a month they're sending you videos of people with MS winning marathons to the sound of fix you by coldplay. in other words, yeah it's sad, but get back in the game, you've still got a leg.
but if you lose both legs, you get the sympathy and there's no real stopwatch on it. money is, of course, still a major concern, but if you decide to take up heroin and hookers, people won't say "he still has one leg, he's taking the easy way out" they'll say, "well you can't blame him for finding comfort where he can get it, can you?"
you may say it's crass and depressing, but who's the real winner - the amputee sky high getting his dick sucked, or the businessman in his suit and tie?
it's the businessman isn't it stew
