I need some laughs
at least when I was 10
It's like having sex. It's a painstaking and arduous task that seems to go on and on forever, and just when you think things are going your way, nothing happens
Dr Strangelove (although it's a very black sense of humour)
Bill & Ted
Some Like It Hot
just makes me laugh constantly, like a drain or something.
rest of the list is pretty reliable too
I love duck soup - best in thread
gf doesn't like b&w films though (yeah, I know)
I don't get it either
her defence is basically 'I just like colours'
...what more can I say
she makes the point that I refuse to listen to music below a certain bitrate/through crappy earphones/speakers/equipment etc so that's kinda comparable.... maybe
We're not sure. Are we black?
Yes, we are
Then we're awake ... but we're very puzzled
Oh, I don't know. Play chess... screw...
Well, let's play chess.
I think I prefer A Night At The Opera, though. Just thinking about the backstage contract negotiation scene makes me laugh out loud.
Although I think I also have to add malick's caveat of 'at least when I was 10'. Shaun of the Dead? I'm thinking Shaun of the Dead is probably the film that's made me laugh most during the last 5 years.
If you're not into the whole Leslie Nielsen thing (which you should be)
when he thinks the lift is his room :D
with the funniest scene in that movie right there.
Oh, and Oh! Brother Where Art Though!
The Big Lebowski and Airplane are also good shouts. Superbad is also great.
it's no Thick Of It, but still LOL
Lots of the movies said are far too preoccupied with having a proper storyline
Such, I nominate White Chicks.
there's some nostalgia at play there, but still hilarious
Well, darkly funny.
I was in stitches
but we're gonna watch Nuts in May
and no Spinal Tap?
always makes me laugh.
saw it today - laugh a minute
Take the Money and Run/Bananas/Manhattan
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
A Shot in the Dark
Harold and Maude
My Favorite Year
My Cousin Vinny
this^ to early woody allen. or latter woody allen. or any woody allen really.
also a tin teardrop.
(and dr strangelove/duck soup/leningrad cowboys/shit movies in general/in the loop a bit)
'Mr. Gambini, didn't I tell you that the next time you appear in my court that you dress appropriately?'
'You were serious about that?'
*cut to Vinny in the back of the prison truck.* :'D
cheeks and chong
the big lebowski
life of brian
in the loop
dumb and dumber
probably some more
You know what I'm talkin' about. 'Oh!'
he said extend
I don't know, Butt-Head. That is a lot of money. Maybe if we close our eyes and pretend he's a chick. *SMACK*
-you're such a butt-monkey beavis
we are ready to do you now. heheheheheheh
-i might have to go to his tool shed
Hey Butthead check it out, it's that slut from the plane!
I think it really could be the funniest film ever. Sincerely.
Butt-head: [Beavis and Butt-Head roll the TV out of the school, it falls down the stairs and breaks] That was cool. Huh huh huh.
Beavis: No, it wasn't.
Butt-head: Uh, oh, yeah.
David VanDriessen: You know, this could be a real positive experience for you guys. There's a wonderful and exciting world out there when we discover that we don't need TV to entertain us.
Butt-head: Huh huh huh. He said, "Anus."
Beavis: Entertain us, anus. Oh, yeah.
David VanDriessen: Have you guys heard a word I've said?
Butt-head: Uh, yeah. Anus.
Beavis: [chuckling] Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I heard it, too.
David VanDriessen: Look, guys, just take the TV back to the AV room right now. And try to be a little more open to life's experiences, okay?
Butt-head: What a dork.
BUTT-HEAD (to couple) - Uh, do you know where Washington is?
TOURIST MAN - Yeah, 'bout 2000 miles that way.
*He points to the desert, then continues into the building.*
BUTT-HEAD - Cool. Huh huh huh.
Martha: Oh, that's nice.
Yeh, is it a 'god damn'?
why are all these shows about water? We need shows about fire!
FLEMMING - Didn't see which way they went. Didn't see their vehicle. I don't suppose you tried
to stop them?
OLD RANGER - The most dangerous guys in America? Not me, Sonny. I make nine dollars an hour.
FLEMMING - National security is the responsibility of every American. Bork...
BORK - Cavity search...?
FLEMMING - Deep and hard.
Fleming - Alright, where's the unit?
BUTT-HEAD - Uh, in my pants?
BORK - Not on him chief.
Fleming - Agent Hurley ... I want you to give this scumbag a cavity search. I'm talking Roto-Rooter. Don't stop 'till you reach the back of his teeth.
I'm massively going to buy this on DVD
BEAVIS - I always thought there was something wrong with him. Heh heh heh.
BUTT-HEAD - Yeah, he had a lot of problems. Huh huh huh.
BEAVIS - Yeah, and um, he used to hit me too.
BUTT-HEAD (leaning towards camera) - Uh hey, does anyone wanna see my unit?
B&B - Huh huh huh huh huh huh.
it has got to be Beavis And Butthead Do America.
probably isn't the answer. but it's still really funny.
great film. Up there in my favourites.
What the fuck are you doing here?
your mom goes to college
Although it's maybe a little dated/clichéd/overdone. I still like it.
where the American football hits the old guy in the nuts.
but I cried with laughter when I watched A Town Called Panic.
Kung Fu Hustle
+ pretty much any other Stephen Chow films. Even the early weird crass ones with AIDs jokes and weird Saddam Hussein references are worth watching and pretty funny/absurd. For that matter one of his films is the only comedy I can think of where just the TITLE cracks me up:
made me laugh more than anything else I've ever seen in a movie. And I can't even remember what it was.
Also, Legend of the Dragon has the distinction of being the only kung fu/snooker film with Jimmy White as himself as the bad guy.
The funniest film of all time is Wayne's World...2.
I would have also accepted Spinal Tap.
'We was in Sri Lanka - formerly Ceylon - and Ozzy wanted 10,000 brown M&Ms or he wouldn't go on stage...'
^Funniest 'bit' in any film ever.
I need to rewatch it.
and finding their movies hilarious. In fact, it would be hipster contrarian to argue that they weren't funny.
and no I'm not doing to be a all ironic and stuff, it is legitimately funny and probably gets more laughs out of me then any other film, intentional or not.
fantastic films, but not necessarily the funniest.
Life of Brian is very funny....but Monty Python and the holy grail I hold with more affection.
Airplane was soooooooo funny at the time it was released ....a similarish film released just after was called
Kentucky Fried Movie, suggest you check this out (as you probably havnt seen it)
Otherwise I do like a couple of Jack Black Films and the Adaams family.
oooh yes Early Woody Allen
Sleeper and Play it again sam (I like bananas AND TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN as well but its probably not funny enough)
then I fell asleep. When I woke up a bit later it looked like someone was being raped by a beach ball on the screen. So I turned it off
the films and tv series are bloody hilarious, get a hold of them
if you like Airplane and Naked Gun you'll have a heart attack watching this.
greatest film of all time
for shame DiS... FOR SHAME
You eat pieces of shit for breakfast!?
and you can count. on me. waiting for you in the parking lot.
Grizzly Adams DOES have a beard.
You can trouble me for a warm glass of shut-the-hell-up! Now, you will go to sleep! Or I will PUT you to sleep. Check out the name tag. You're in MY world now, grandma!
I don't want a piece of you, I want the whole thing!
Now you've had enough...
it's all on youtube, go watch it. spike milligan co-wrote it. pre-dates most monty python stuff, and was a massive influence. great cast too. made in 1969 and still one of the funniest films i've ever seen.
there was one bit that made me near piss myself laughing
Chris Morris is such a genius
have some bombdogs
cheers for all the recommendations in this thread
comedy film marathons ahoy
this film seems to have fallen out of favour lately presumably because its one of those things everyone liked when they were a student and then decides isnt very good after leaving uni and being sick to the tits of everyone quoting it all the time. and also because will ferrell has been in some proper shit lately which probably sullied people's memories a bit. but it is genuinely hilarious.
other things people only like when they are students but should really continue liking throughout life:
1. snakebite & black
