Why aren't Spurs/Arsenal playing the weekend after next?
that makes sense
The Spurs v Arsenal game is likely to be in mid-April. Just like last season - oh bugger...
great goal too
and I never thought I'd ever say the following sentence; Crouch and Woodgate were both immense
Every player played his part, however sandro and palacios were immense in the centre of the park, and lols and their lb trying to deal with lennon.
Has flamini always been such a cunt? I know gattuso has.
I was happy just getting to the group stages of th CL - everything since then has been a massive bonus. Cheers Spurs.
Souness calling Gattuso a 'Dog' was a particular highlight. He seemed a bit crazed after the final whistle - like it had stirred up his dormant violent streak.
Tottenham thoroughly deserved it though; Milan reverted to bully boy stuff and crowd incitement in the hope it'd unsettle them. That Flamini tackle (but more so his response afterwards) was particularly vile. Milan came off quite twatish by the end. Still, one goal is not much and the reaction to last night seems to take it for granted that Milan wont win at WHL. I'm sure the focus will shift again as the 2nd leg approaches but Tottenham had a period there in the 2nd half where they looked pretty vulnerable...
Can I also just say that Jeff Stelling is a great Anchorman. It's a shame that Sky can't clone him to cover all the games AND Soccer Saturday.
although his voices seemed to be struggling to cope! Sounness was really going for it, think he's probably better with a moustache mind.
May go start watching them again now they're getting good.
Birmingham still can't score. Newcastle without Carroll apparently can. Burnley do you QPR fans a huge favour.
Birmingham must be worse than I thought.
Apparently Spurs dominated. Second half was a bit mental though. Gomes was great and I think that Spurs defence should probably give him their wages for this week- the marking from set-pieces was often woeful and top saves kept it from showing. That said, whoever was at LB for Milan (I forget) will probably have nightmares about Aaron Lennon for a while. He, and everyone from the Spurs defence up, played very well indeed.
Very, very impressive first half and took advantage of some unbelievably naive defending for the goal. Felt a bit like Crouch was going to miss when Lennon slid him in.
I know Gattuso was out of order, but he was also very, very funny.
Quite how Flamini stayed on the pitch though I'm not sure, that was a disgusting challenge. Having been at Arsenal for both Diaby and Eduardo's injuries, he should definitely know better.
10 hours to go till Barca. Not sure whether I'm excited or terrified.
We're unlilkely to win, but in the end there's little shame in losing to a team like that. I'll be happy if we give a decent account of ourselves, and I'll be more pissed off if we fuck up against the likes of Orient and Stoke in the coming week.
and losing to both Orient and Stoke?
And yeah, we've get fuck all chance of getting through, but this is a massive, massive game. One that actually comes close to deserving the insane levels of hype the Champion's League generates.
The only way this can disappoint me is if we're just a bit rubbish and they beat us without having to try. If they're going to rip us to bits then hopefully they'll at least play like they did in the Classico or the opening half hour of last season's first leg so I can enjoy the show.
im excited for arsenal v barca
86th minute equaliser from Ashley goal-machine Grimes. Game of two halves, two drums, no Bovril, Dwain Chambers as a half-time guest, and Jamie Clapham being voted man of the match.
You're evidently still alive so it could't have been too painful I guess.
We wandered up the main street and jumped in the Yates's because it was empty. No messing around. Top class menu though, apparently.
coming up for the corner - someone really should have told him it was a 2-legged match...his team-mates didn't look too impressed...
That was brilliant.
Haven't won in the league since December 6th and genuinely can't see where our next win is coming from. Next two games are Carlisle and Bournemouth away. Plus, we're gonna get pumped by Birmingham in the cup on Saturday.
League Two starting to look a real possibility.
why the festering fuck was clinton morrison captain last night?
To be fair, it's no slant against him. He's inherited an AWFUL squad of overpaid, over hyped hasbeens, mixed with young players who don't seem to be good enough. The fact that Irvine was trusted with a January transfer kitty seems to have been disasterous. Apart from Gary Madine, who looks a decent buy.
WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T IRVINE BUY ANY MIDFIELDERS!?
I also have decided that Barcelona are boring AND a bunch of pricks to boot.
agreed on barcelona, they're not that boring though.
They should probably just let joe jordan deal with him.
Whoever loses, we win.
He'd have that short arse any day of the week. He not only played for Leeds and United but was also in a Southampton team containing Jimmy Case, the biggest nutter of all time. And don't forget he had to handle himself in the slums that is Portsmouth.
should've known better.
Fairly confident that we're going to get thrashed.
I would like to attend, but only if I can take the train rather than drive (from Northamptonshire). Is it much of a walk from Wembley Stadium station?
Glad I didn't bother.........
was in a meeting from 11:30 onwards. Wembley Stadium's a good couple of miles from Vale Farm anyway.
havent been this excited about a game for a long LONG time.
i don't even think i want barca to steamroll you. but i'd probably get over it
although i'd take 19-1.
someone sign him up
the crowd waving these
You can pretty much disregard the opinion of anyone who thinks so.
When we played Paris St Germain in the Cup Winners Cup semi-final second leg in 1994 we got bits of card. Fans these days don't know how lucky they are.
Specifically at around 5 minutes when we score, then at 7 when he thinks they've equalised. Paul Merson should be more like this.
is that a real sports programme?
it's their equivalent of Soccer Special, there are loads of clips on youtube. He makes Phil Thompson look like the model neutral...
the clip from our game against them at the san siro is great
I was nervous. We were both speaking Scottish, something that I learned when I played in his home city of Glasgow, but I can't tell you what we said.
- - - - - -
I love that they 'were speaking Scottish'. Amazing.
and how he wasn't sent off about 4 times last night i'll never know
then lose by 4 in the Nou Camp. Something like this will happen. Though probably not that.
Please let Nasri start and be fully fit. He is probably even more important to us than Messi is to Barcelona.
Also, please let tonight be the night Arshavin turns it around and puts in a performance! And the night Walcott has his shooting boots on. And Koscielny keeps his head.
If all of these things happen, we have a chance.
But yeah he, Cesc and Djourou are the ones where their absence tends to cause the most problems
Psychologically, to beat the "Best Team In The World" would set us up brilliantly for the next few games in terms of confidence.
If we put in a listless performance and get beaten 3-0 tonight, I reckon it would spill over into subsequent performances.
We have a much better chance of the domestic trophies, that's what we really need Nasri for. If we somehow win this game/tie, great, but it's not the be all and end all.
i'd defo stick theo on the left wing tho. dani alves wont bother to mark him.
really hope he dives again
Be very harsh to drop him tonight for somone who hasn't played in 3 weeks
has been player of the season. also, arshavin doesn't track back enough, and we need that tonight.
Then Spurs knock Arsenal out.
Only for us to knock Spurs out.
So Mourinho can destroy us in the final.
I hope a lot of things.
actually no, i dont like all one country affairs. semis then, followed by nailing Real in the final. that'd do.
And I thought my post was ridiculous.
spurs 4-0 milan
qtr final spurs 3 - 1 man u
semi final spurs 4 - arsenal 3
final spurs 1 - 0 real madrid (aet)
*What seems evident to me is that my client was strongly provoked by Joe Jordan. Jordan, after having continuously heckled him, insulted him with truly a low phrase, saying Fucking Italian bastard.
For one like Rino, who has a strong sense of his Italian identity, I think this is the most disgusting and unjustifiable of insults.*
for not much more than pantomime villainry, (although he he escaped a 2nd booking or straight red is completely beyond me).
whereas flamini escapes with a yellow for being reckless, dirty and massively unsportsmanlike.
and spurs should've had a pen in the 1st minute. Ray Wilkins reckons the ref had a great game apart from all that :D
Used to really dislike him, but I was wrong. He's a true gent and I'll shiv anyone who says anything to the contrary.
Agree with Harru though. I would have been pretty bitter had we not won last night, what with the pen, the Flam and Gattuso seemingly being allowed to just run around shoving people.
I can see what Ray emant though, despite getting all of those decisions wrong (that sort of thing happens all the time) at kleast he didn't crumple under the pressure and give Milan everything, like every ref at Old Trafford circa 1995-2005
genuinely thought he was refreshing. lacking in cliche and hyperbole, *just* on the right side of amusingly biased, and obviously knowledgeable.
his praise for the ref's performance came just after he disallowed ibra's goal too :D
Especially when he has a really strong sense of being Italian.
This is despicable.
It's not on, in this context.
Neither is attacking people, mind.
I feel dirty.
I am thinking about doing some betting. For some reason I fancy the below. What do you think? Will you be betting?
4-2 to Barca @ 40/1
4-2 to Arsenal @ 66/1
Villa to score 2 or more @ 6/1
Nasri to score 2 or more @ 25/1
Mighht splash out an put a quid on each.
so if you're going to go for that might as well go for arsenal (better odds)
One of the defenders (from either side) to score 1st (from a set piece, obvs) might be worth looking at. that's what i'll go for. and a small amount on arsenal victory.
So at least three of these things will now happen
Walcott to score
oh look at that. so comfortable on the ball it's like the keeper is an extra outfield player
yeah, you're right actually, he's just a posh glen johnson, but more of a cunt.
lol at andy townsend arguing that it was a good decision for song to get booked after 6 minutes
good decision on song's behalf
Having said that Arsenal have looked occasionally on the counter and if Van Persie or whoever take one of their chances maybe they scrap a draw.
Probs gonna be 5-0 Barca or something though.
comforting consistencies in this topsy-turvy world we live in
I think so, but I'm not sure.
Like a father hugging a son on graduation day
He looks so much like a child its unnerving
The argyle jumper, the oversized bag of crisps, the smile! There is nothing that isnt amazing about that picture.
that's a normal sized bag of crisps. tiny andrey arshavin.
I want to see him with a party sized bag of chilli heatwave doritos.
AA.: A person.
6. From Sibir96
Hello, Andrey! What helps you on the pitch?
13. From KAtoK11
Andrey, do you like fishing?
AA: No. But I wouldn’t mind to catch a golden fish.
14. From Julashka
Andrey, would you like to become a president?)))) Thank you in advance for your reply :)
15. From Mishanya232
How can I be sure that I am communicating with the real Arshavin?
AA: Just believe in it.
Barca played the entire second half at walking pace, not really bothering all that much, like the cocky little shits they are. Glad they got punished for it. Plus, they had a goal unfairly disallowed and Arshavin got away with a handball in the area. Fucking priceless.
Pretty sure Arsenal will still get dicked on away, but who knows?
showboating they could have easily won the match. Well done to Arsenal for coming back. Feeling oddly patriotic in the champions league this season.
expect to lose 5-0 at the bernabeu but that was fucking fantastic
Good result for you at White Hart Lane!
WAS TOO EXCITED
*drafts a letter to UEFA to make all European ties one game from now on*
Shaktar beat Roma at Rome!!
can't he ask normal questions without sounding like a cunt
i'd quite like to see a gabriel clark/garth crooks interview
level with the ball when the initial shot was taken so onside
re: messi can't do it in england
still got a goal and an assist
level with the ball when the initial shot was taken so onside
he more or less got a goal
counted as goals
and not a kick and run / long ball merchant.
first since scholes.
that that was a thoroughly good game. Really enjoyable stuff. I almost forgot to hate Andy Townsend.
also had money on over 2.5 goals, dont think ive been so happy to see arsenal score that 2nd.
this was a weird game.
We deserved the win, clearly. Their defending was comic, midfield kamikaze and their attack impotent.
However we need to learn to finish our chances. Klasnic should have had two, Muamba one and if Petrov could stay onside for once Elmander should have had one.
Can't be too pessimistic though. Wheater was excellent at the back and Bogdan only had one save to make IIRC. CYL was boss as usual, and Mavies was good forward and back. Hope Ricketts is ok.
Oh, and one final word. Wigan fans...LOL. This is the first time I've been to a game where I actually thought the away fans outnumbered the home fans. And having not see the attendance figures yet it could quite possibly be true.
