torress and carroll. discuss.
do we care about anything else? barnet didnt play.
Unless he really is gullible enough that his agent said he had to. I wouldn't mind so much if we reinvested properly. Maybe we can buy him back for £15m in the summer once Liverpool realise he doesn't work in their team?
I mean, I think that's probably something like the truth, but those texts are surely fake.
entertaining throughout. Lots of lolz, especially with Spurs trying to buy their 15th attacking midfielder at 10.59, and wenger having faith in his CBs.
Sunday's game will be interesting, i wonder if there'll be any more shirt-burning outside the ground (more lols).
EL HADJI DIOUF
i remember watching him a few years ago for the bees. pretty sure he's no premiership player.
I was suprised when we loaned him out because he was looking fromising for saints despite not scoring. Definitely not premiership quality yet though.
He wasn't good enough to get into our team so I'm not sure what good he's going to do at Blackpool. He'll probably have one wonder game a la Leon Best and then fade into the either, a la Leon Best.
which came half an hour after the deadline had passed? This is what happens when you have a kidney bean for a head. Can't argue with his observational skills if he thinks he isn't going to make it at Old Trafford, though.
Dammit, guntrip and jonny_rat don't come in football threads do they
So say sky sports
Should be quite an interesting game after their FA cup sucesses at the weekend.
Re. the sellick- I'm a bit disappointed that the faye and wilson approaches fell through (and worried overall about the defence with so many injured/ on loan) but on balance i think I'm pretty happy with the decision to stick with freddie and commons and not get the cheque book out for the sake of it.
Now, where is daniel kelly, and has he bought his replica shirt yet? (also, I thought I understood finance, but I don;t understand AT ALL how chelsea manage. 75m loss? 100m+ deals? I guess it's seen as an investment, but my flabber is gasted.)
if its in relation to me being a female talking about football you can fack reet aff
i probably know more about football than half the people on here, plus totally addicted to the fifa game
and what he said to the press was pretty shocking. that, plus google is your friend! :D I certainly don't think he was being sexist.
Oh, and HI! Not seen you around for ages!
Richard Keys: Well, somebody better get down there and explain offside to her.
Andy Gray: Yeah, I know. Can you believe that? Female linesman. Forget what I said – they probably don't know the offside rule.
RK: Course they don't.
AG: Why is there a female linesman? Somebody's fucked up big.
RK: I can guarantee you there'll be a big one today. Kenny [Dalglish, Liverpool's manager] will go potty. This is not the first time. Didn't we have one before?
RK: Wendy Toms.
AG: Wendy Toms, something like that. She was fucking hopeless as well.
RK: [exasperated groan]
RK: No, no, it's got to be done, it's good. The game's gone mad. See charming Karren Brady this morning complaining about sexism? Yeah. Do me a favour, love.
its not that bad tbh. Im not sure female refs should be allowed. imo.
Deserves more sexist credit
I mean, he obviously manages to do SOMETHING right but:
• Says they're not buying anyone. AT ALL.
• Then stays at training ground until 12pm.
• Levy says 'I quite like the look of this Adam fella on Championship Manager? Shall I get him?' 'Arry says 'Why not? Sure, we have 3 or creative midfielders and could do with someone to put a tackle in, a world class forward or maybe a defense but doesn't hurt spending £12 million on him, does it? Maybe offer them some of our players who'll possibly be pretty fucked off when they discover what I think of them, such as Crouchy'
• Put in a bid for Phil Neville of £250,000. Upset his manager and Phil Neville I suspect.
• End up not buying anyone. AT ALL.
Can see Spurs collapsing from here on in and ending 7th.
he just seems to get a little confused during transfer windows and adopts the scatter gun approach. At various points during the window we were seriously linked with the following strikers:
and probably carlton cole.
Still, £8m for VDV looks even more sensational today. AND woodgate's in the squad for tomorrow's game. Lovely stuff.
i can easily see us outside the top 5/6 unless one of our ruthless hitmen step up to the plate shrpish.
he's clearly not an idiot.... or is he?
i don't think he (or wenger, actually) can be criticised for not joining on the insane january merrygoround. the squad isn't any weaker now than in august, and no one really got any good value yesterday....you could argue that pienaar for <£4m was the best bit of (buying) business all month.
i can see why he went for neville, and why he wasn't too bothered not to get him.
i think part of his 'skill' is his duplicity and dis-ingenuity - he's more than capable of bringing players he's previously shown more than a cold shoulder to back into the fold and reintegrating them into the team (bale, hutton, pav, even huddlestone to name a few)
i highly doubt we'll finish 4th now though. but i always did.
going to Rangers only confirmed the fact he is history's greatest monster.
can't wait to see him in an Old Firm game
he will come on to the pitch with an Orange marching band leading him out.
in the world he'll get a career ending injury in the first minute
This is a very surprising signing and i am not really sure whats gonna happen, wouldn't surprise me if he plays on sunday against celtic and is sent off within 10mins.
In saying all of that if he scores the winner i am sure i'll develop a soft spot for him :)
with Lafferty, now we have brought in Diouf. This could backfire massively, well at least it should add a bit more spice on Sunday.
You were made for modern-day football.? What a bunch of utterly classless fuckwits. A bunch of middle-aged men bouncing around like they're off on a school trip to fuckin Butlins. What a bunch of post-96 tossers. I hope you enjoy your days out at Arsenal, 'Boyz'
harsh but ultimately fair
and his little smirk of approval at the beginning.
every one a delight.
Is that Ray Parlour?
People going CRAZY for the Torres shirts.
Struggling to believe we bought anyone at all, let alone the player UEFA voted the best in Portugal and Fernando Torres. I wonder if Jamie Redknapp still thinks Roman isn't bothered and that Spurs are now a bigger force in the transfer market?
as a neutral i can't wait for Sunday's game. And at least six Torres goals.
& suarez hattrick.
what number shirt is he by the way?
i hate this new penchant for players wearing numbers higher than 30.
Drives me mental. Similarly strikers wearing number 3 shirts and stuff. FUCK OFF
looks a bit weird imo (the choice of number, not Adebayor himself)
6 is centre back
4 is holding midfielder
i quite like hollands way of doing it. also brazils. heres mine:
Left wingers wearing 8, pah
and a central midfielder wearing 11.
I think thats all we need to know.
You've been told.
Unless Ian Wright plays then 8 up front.
Dunno why, just like them.
Everything else can fuck off.
Did Shevchenko have it last?
Franco di fucking Santo was the last to wear it.
Shevchenko did indeed have 7.
fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
because you weren't buying anyone. Now you are.
Not having a dig at Spurs, anyway. Having a dig at Jamie Redknapp.
But when the whole pienaar thing happened a lot of pundits were wondering whether chelsea had lost their edge in the transfer market, and perhaps rightly so. Pienaar had turned down moving to a club where arguably he stood less chance of 1st team football to join Spurs. Most 'experts' if asked would have drawn similar conclusions i'd have thought. Obvioulsy your actions yesterday show this not to be the case - at the time though, it was not an odd conclusion to draw.
because it was absurdly premature and based a conclusion on solely one transfer. It was knee-jerk guff.
i think it could have been significant given that it's something that would never have happened during the last 5 years or so. Pundits will always pick up on stuff like this and hottie redknapp was far from alone in doing so.
you do really have to laugh at such times.
I've never liked Torres and now I get a license to hate him
Under the Diouf post at one point, I bet. :D
hope he goes back to being blonde though.
the ssn interview with Diouf, after being asked whether he will make his debut against Celtic saying "Why not Wednesday?" with the gravitas of a Morgan Freeman soliloquy, and slowly fading from a look of evil to a wry smile, like he was a James Bond villain with a plan for global domination.
Oh, that's who that was. Grade A Cunt.
That Andy Carroll cost £35m
or that James Beattie has 5 England caps
The scorer imitating to shoot with some kind of weapon, either aiming towards the sky or to some other virtual target
The Greece team at the 1994 World Cup also saw Finidi George of Nigeria running to the corner flag after scoring, kneeling down and imitating a urinating dog.
Everyone is mental, regardless of allegiance and geographical background
when i was watching iain dowie and tony cascarino being interrogated on all the moves, as if they were in any way in a position to give sensible comments.
"for me, andy carroll is worth 35 million pounds, yeah".
THIS IS WHY AL QAEDA WANT TO EXTERMINATE US
To suggest that a ponytailed chap from Gateshead may be worth this figure is just amazing :D
They ought to have done. Bloody rude I felt. No goodbyes or thank yous at all, just 'moved upwards' and 'bigger club' bullshit. Even as a relative Liverpool hater I respect that you should at least mention that you vaguely enjoyed the support you got.
He's asking for an utter kicking now.
He's got to endear himself to supporters of his current club, not his last one. And he did mention that he'd enjoyed being in Liverpool and it was a tough decision to make ...
The extract I read on the Guardian Sports page didn't have that last part!
so not much, and I could see why Liverpool supporters would get het up about it but, y'know, fuck 'em! HE'S OURS NOW!
So probably serves them right. Carroll is a lot better fit.
I enjoyed Aldridge yesterday talking about why moving to Chelsea was a step backwards for him going to a smaller club that struggled to sell out their FA Cup allocation. When Motty just piped up and said 'Well, a smaller club that's won a domestic title in the past 20 years and is still in the Champions League...'
Think Aldridge just might be talking shit.
Oh, joy of joys.
whether to put Vela or Dembele in my fantasy football team. In the end I went for Dembele. Bet Vela goes nuts and scores a hat-trick now. I can see him being a big hit at The Hawthorns.
Where Carlos Vela is absolutely phenomenal in my opinion. Don't think I've ever seen him "in real life" (or know what he looks like), but he banged in 30+ for me in the 2013 Premiership season therefore he's awesome. He'll get a brace tonight.
No one scores classy goals against us. He'll have a hat trick made exclusively of bobbles, deflections wrong-footing Habbers who gets a great touch and but collect it and our CBs will tap the ball in off Vela's arse, and/or a complete offside trap fail howler when Thom,as stops to make a daisy chain on the 18 yard line.
He might not contribute anything to your first 3 goals, but by goodness he'll make your 4th and 5th pretty
caused me no end of strife on FM09. Cunts
Tuncay. 26 of them. AT BORO.
See also: Daniel Nardiello, Bojan Djordic :D
I turned that kid into a world beater a few times. Along with that young right wing wonderkid Darren Fletcher..
As I recall.
Wowsers. What frame of mind will he be in at Liverpool? He's only a young lad as well. KENNY OUT.
Torres- I'm absolutely, pretty much sexually, delighted to have joined Chelsea
Carroll- I'd rather have stayed at Newcastle, tbh
Says it all.
we think you're worth FIFTY MILLION POUNDS
where's the rest of my post?
DiS is being a twat about them lately.
"I spoke to Harry on Saturday afternoon. He made the bid. We had a bit of banter about horses and things. There has been a lot of people saying things, but Saturday at 4pm was the first time we had an offer.
Not to suggest that they changed the subject at the last minute or anything, but according to the cartoonist Andy Carroll's Liverpool shirt will be sponsored by Samsung.
suppose nobody will ever really know if he truly desired to leave or not. Clearly neither wish to be painted as the one who instigated the deal.
Despite selling Torres, at least such a reaction shows the new owners mean business. Previously that fee would have simply serviced debt, but here acquired two very impressive young strikers. Albeit at inflated valuations. Heavily indicates that Kenny is likely to be around beyond May too.
but how do chelsea fit torres into the team?
essien lampard mikel malouda
as far as i've ever seen he's an out and out central forward, he couldn't really play on a flank. if they play 2 orthodox strikers there's a lack of width.
stick anelka on the right
To take the conversation away from £35 million mistakes.
Reckon Yeovil are gonna win. We are on fire, while Plymouth continue to stink up the place. Hopefully we will drag ourselves out of the relegation zone.
Shirt.... Flame retardant
Man..... Plain retarded
hopefully our back 4 are back and available to start.
how does everyone else watch stuff online?
good performance so far - been a few opportunities to add another. I've slated Rooney as much as anyone but he took both goals well to be fair to him.
Wasn't expecting that from a Tuesday night against Sunderland. Wish I'd taken the day off and gone up now.
Anelka and Kalou (yes, KALOU!) absolutely ran the show, and we created chances for fun. Play even half as well as that, half the time, and Torres will score 30+ each season for us, even if he has a gammy leg. One of the best games in the Premier League this season, probably.
That Sessegnon actually looked pretty good for Sunderland, too.
of grinning people already wearing Torres 9 shirts- fucking brilliant.
Sounds like the Chelsea of old. From the start of the second half it was all you lot. Anelka and Kalou had great games.
Sessegnon was very impressive can see him being really effective for us.
We really missed Cattermole.
Tbf, we did you 10-3 last season!
has injected a bit of life into a few. Anelka and Kalou in particular. With Malouda absent, did they play 4-4-2 tonight?
hit double figures against us most seasons!
Really worried about Saturday now, it's win every game or bust at the moment
Annoying that our run of clean sheets in the Premiership was broken by a goal that was miles offside.
