I reckon that its on a level with Red Dwarf. Please reply with some love.
without a doubt
It's really underrated. Sky 2 did an entire day of it before Christmas, it was brillz
don't think it's THAT underrated though, though it has sort of got lost in time a bit and only our generation seems to watch it.... jesus that makes me feel old.
Modern Family is the same for nowadays I reckon
from what I've seen it's good but not GREAT but I always saw the potential there.
and not just because of the fantastic milfs (also elder daughter (it's ok she's very legal))
It's all about knowing and loving the characters and the rest follows.
but havent even thought about it once since seeing the last episode, its like it completely evaporated, guess that would be different if I had sky
if so, it's on there
It's still really good, it's stood the test of time and is one of the few things that made me laugh from kid to adult
it's the early ones as well when Francis is still in Military school :D Though we are at Ranch era on Sky One and Two, my other fav Francis era...... I think the weakest was the alaska era but still good.
That's how I define my Malcom In The Middles not by series number but by what Francis is doing.
to destroy all of Francis' character development in the last few seasons :(
Loungey Francis era was worst
not least because a lot of what he did seemed to irritate Lois more than when he was a teenage hellraiser. the episodes with her and his wife (Piama?) were GREAT.
spose it comes down to me not watching it in a logical order for sometime, downloaded all the episodes since this thread and will look on from there :)
Yeh, its always on there. Great show, even years later!
They all look about 5 years old. Malcolm got progressively more annoying as the show went on.
One of my favourite sitcoms ever. I'm pretty sure none of it's available here on DVD, which is ridiculous.
One of my favourite episodes ever is when Dewey gets his revenge on Hal by refusing to say 'I love you' to him. Both hilarious and tragic.
it's not clear for DVD use... so they released season one in America and sort of left it at that instead of dumping lots of money into clearing the music in several regions and over several series.
in the US*
I'd forgotten how great it was. The channel has a purpose after all.
and hal accepted it with a bare bum :) That seems so long ago now :(
I keep expecting him to sneak off and cook up some crystal
He's won 3 straight best actor Emmys for it now I think
esp that they might be giants do the theme song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAbZzdalZh4
My third favourite band.
excent stuff moousee
i spent about 8 years of my childhood watching this on sky one. i miss it. :(
it was so lovely. gonna go download a torrent of all the episodes now and then feel bad because when i used to watch it i didn't even know what the internet is...
I AM AWARE OF THE INTERNET NOW.

The multi-layered-ness of some episodes, and its stubborn refusal not to dip into shmaltz, made it as good as the Simpsons golden age more often than not.
I think my favourite episode was the one where Malcolm, Dewey and Reece have to come up with a crime so spectacular that Lois, who's sick with the flu, will forget what Francis has done.
Red Dwarf is pretty awful at least half the time ... Well, maybe not half. A third of the time.
is the one where Reese discovers cooking. The bit where Lois and Hal realise he's actually a psychopath is classic. I love most episodes though, it's not repeated enough.
and watched them all. I really think even in the later seasons it was still quality. When you see the first season its scary how young they look.
I like the episode where hal has the steamroller and the one where they take the boys bowling but you see it from two different universes, one where hal takes them and one where lois takes them.
you are correct
I turned on the television at random over Christmas and they were showing the Waterpark episode - which is one of my favourites (my other one might be the one with the sofa on the train tracks).
Fun fact: Frankie Muniz is older than the guy that played Reece.
I think it is the one sitcom that genuinely the whole family can love (the intelligent family that is)
But Hal was brilliant, he often stole the show.
Have you seen 'The Middle', its notvery good. I think it is quite jejune to think that producers don't think that audiences will see that it is very similar and just a reworked MITM with some famous sitcom actors replacing the old cast.
Malcolm's girlfriend dumps him in the middle of the playround and he just curls up and lies down in front of everyone, then another kid lays a blanket over him. That or the bit where they fight the clowns.
probably went a fair way past its sell-by date, but the first few seasons were great. It's a bit unnerving watching the first season reruns, Malcolm and Reece were practically the same age as me at the time and they all look so ridiculously young now.
and then cyborg Stevie comes and beats him up
and the one when Hal takes up speed walking. Might have been the same episode actually. Not sure. Been a fuck of a while.
where Hal has 'the talk' with the boys. He holds up a Barbie and Ken doll, and says something like 'well, normally, when a man and woman like each other very much...well, then sex happens and you know all about that already. But you have to be warned, here's what happens to the men in OUR family when they try to talk to women' and then the Ken doll embarrasses himself and the Barbie storms off. <3
