Good enough for me to go to the cinema on my own tonight?
depends who the date is with, whether it's a first date etc...
maybe you could just take them along, chicks dig really long german silent movies about the future, right?
it could be the version with the soundtrack by Queen
by going the cinema route it wouldn't be problematic but I know I'd buckle in Leicester Square and go and see something like Honey I Shrunk The Kids or whatever braindead xmas film is out there
everyone should in fact :)
it might rightly be regarded as a classic, and in turn a film you should certainly see at one point....but it is really not a great watch.
there are some really visceral moments that are quite moving, when the music (i've only seen it with the orchestral score, mind) and the sheer scale of everything combine.
but for the most part it's quite a slog and pretty dull and disjointed. i'm sure anyone that says they really love it is probably lying
I went to a showing of it there last month and it was great - first time seeing it on a big screen and it makes a huge difference. Of course, I went with a mate as I have a proper social circle and that...
I prefer the cinema on my own tbh.
Yes to the PCC, is it not weird in there for a silent film?
^think i just invented a SUPERB film snob trolling concept but not gonna follow it up here...
seriously both versions are amazing but flawed/odd/disjointed. (plus the anime is not really a remake, just loosely based on Tezuka's manga which was loosely based on him seeing a poster for the film or something, not really very much related)
I do wanna see the new super complete version of Metropolis as it seems like it has some legendary missing scenes which make it actually make sense.?
complete with 80's soundrack, which is only half the length.
never been officially released on dvd - so that's the "indiest" version of all i think :)
*think* i got it from the library on VHS many years ago. didn't really dig it that much.
it at the cinema, so I would say yes.
