what a dude!
i'm actually pretty inspired by this story
£5000 on rent? Where is he living? Buckingham Palace? bloody hell. And the £4000 on living expenses. Seriously, if I were earning the amount he does to afford his rent and living expenses I would also give away a million in my lifetime.
he earns £25,300, he gives away everything over £18,000.
£5000 a year on rent is not much really
I feel like a bad person for judging now.
So about £420 per month.
that amount will dwindle.
you are SUCH a skim reader
I read enough to know that he doesn't have kids.
Just wait until he has kids. Goodbye charity.
To be fair, it's not that difficult for a couple with no children to 'survive' on £43,000 a year (after tax).
Whether this makes their sacrifice less noble, or everyone else's lack of sacrifice more embarrassing is another matter.
he's found a level that he is comfortable living at and just gives the excess away. it's not supposed to be all like 'OMG SACRIFICE', more that you be comfortable and give away to deserving causes.
"A year ago, he vowed to give away everything he earned above £20,000 and his wife, Bernadette Young..."
Good on him, that's extreme charity giving.
