Madness. Just as Newcastle were showing signs of being a sensible football club again.
Newcastle are utterly mental.
They must have somebody already lined up surely, not even they can go sacking a manager in favour of someone "more experienced" if the deal is not already done.
Megson or Curbishley please
No doubt they've got some world class managerial talent lined up, then. Mourinho? Ancelotti? Paul Ince?
That would be absolutely magnificent
He told me he served David O'Leary breakfast this morning.
our first choice keeper
three first choice midfielders
and our centre back pairing
and we're still solidly midtable with some decent performances behind us.
wouldn't you agree?
my start of season prediction was 13/14th so i don't see what Hughton was doing wrong. this is the 'stabilisation' season. get up, don't get relegated then start to think about rebuilding over the summer/next year
a 6-0 win over Villa, 5-1 win over your local rivals. I'm not really sure what more Hughton could have done considering the complete lack of funds he's had available to him.
he's a great man...
...I like Newcastle.
Mike Ashley needs a slap.
I do seriously wonder if non-high-profile managers are on a hiding to nothing taking jobs in the Premier League as it seems in most cases they'll be sacked as soon as the vaguest excuse comes up.
in their first season back up.
Has this been influenced by the fans at all?
as much as i want to say 'fucking newcastle - what a joke club', it is usually their fans that get my back up, but if even they think this is absurd then it's hard to criticise anyone apart from that lardy sports shop bloke.
The players were all massively behind hughton too weren't they? haven't heard a whisper of dressing room unrest, which is remarkable for any newcastle squad.
but I hardly follow it closely. Feel sorry for the fans for once.
Hughton was the only good thing they had going.
He was actually going someway to restoring some dignity there.]
Nigel Spackman 8/1
and pie in hand....
Destroyed their rivals.
So do you decide to reward your young English/Irish manager who's worked his way up through the ranks? Nah, give that one a miss and bring in some guy who probably hasn't managed for a while, but got some shit team to mid-table about 5 years...
I like those odds!
Makes me so glad that we've got Niall and Ellis in charge.
I was mildly concerned you were getting your act together. Luckily Ashley has decided to revert to type.
Looking for the list of usual suspects being issed MON, Curbishley, O'Leary etc. What more could he had done, it was looking pretty decent but the writing was on the wall with the contract nonsense.
No one in Newcastle has a bad word to say against Hughton. He did a fantastic job and is a bloody nice bloke. Ridiculous. I wouldn't be surprised to see the anti-Ashley protests kick off again.
Take what out on who?
"More proof if any was needed that this board know nothing of the game of football."
Board = DiS Social board.
I should have been more clear. Stupid football-induced rage.
I'm having a breakdown.
that's really all I have to say right now.
Mad mad mad decision
I remember us (QPR) properly outplaying them in a 1-1 at SJP last season and afterwards Hughton was like "We were outplayed, pretty lucky to get a point" and thinking what a stand up bloke.
I am depressed.
Kinda wish he was sacked earlier so we could've gotten him.
from this neutral's point of view. At least for the jokes
I can see it now.
Chelsea to get relegated.
Was it Middlesbrough? Hmm.
I'm talking about Gareth Southgate, not Strachan.
Please, please, please, please be Shearer. And relegation, obviously.
I feel sorry for the fans but that's still exactly what this ludicrous decision deserves.
black to be a Premiership manager.
seriously, who would want to manage us?
underrated manager, decent bloke, poor sinuses.
doing the rounds that it's likely to be Pardew.
if true, would be a bit like bringing Nigel Reo Coker on for Steve Sidwell.
I doubt many NUFC fans are to be honest. Well... except the utterly moronic ones who refuse to wear clothing in -7°c cold snaps.
Knowing you a swift return to the Championship. Pahars!
but this is fucking mental.
Message to Mike Ashley:
The Toon Army WILL fuk'n get ya man!
according to skysports
That would make me want them to stay up. Can't they go for Graeme Souness again?
Shearer and Gazza not available
