What's the best part of a trifle?
it's the custard that puts me off.
at the number of people who today have confessed to not liking custard. I argued that it was the best part of a trifle, hence this thread.
HOW CAN PEOPLE NOT LIKE CUSTARD? IT'S THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD!
The other week my mum gave me a little tiny toffee apple sponge pudding. Do you know what she did without asking? POUR CUSTARD ALL OVER THE THING. IT was just a bowl of custard and a little bit of sponge in the end.
now I like my moist food but this was just ridiculous.
there are a few things like that, which i associate with school dinners / getting cooked for by my nan. and they've suffered by association. condensed milk is another one.
also it's something i've always got away with not liking. "custard or cream?" "cream, thanks". sorted.
I love it SO MUCH.
But it's not the best thing in the world when it's in a trifle and cold.
rather than it mattering that they're actually in a trifle together?
i hate trifle.
Ladies and Gentlemen I present Exhibit A for the prosecution when in the case of normal people against fucktards on the internet:
"Goof: When Rachel makes half an English Trifle and half a Shepherd's Pie, it is credited to the pages being stuck together. Considering that the layer of beef sautéed with peas and onions is in the middle of the concoction, this is impossible. There is no way Rachel could have been instructed to add other layers, such as bananas and whip cream, on top."
What kind of shit large-font recipe book has a separate page for each layer of a trifle?!
You're all lunatics.
MAKE THE THREAD APPEAR
That would just be...well...foolish.
The soggy sponge in a trifle is utterly revolting
Never been one for a trifle, me.
Bit weird because I love the constituent parts. Just not altogether at once.
Hate it with ice-cream/cream etc. Trifle is bad.
It's just weird. I was never down with jelly and ice-cream at parties.
i can't do it.
Sure, I might appreciate the work of some of the parts of it in other roles they may have had in the past - I might even buy some of it individually.
Put it together, and it's one of the worst things that has ever happened to food. Up there with bread & butter pudding and SOAWJO.
...or, should I say, The Trifleing Wilburys?!
still funny :D
but I have wanted to make this version of a trifle for years now
Limoncello, blackcurrant jam, mascarpone, amaretti biscuits...mmmm, yes please!
which part is Chris Cornell's r'n'b album?
That's you off the dinner party list.
Trifle>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SOAWJO (probably) >>>>>>>>Bread and butter pudding
absolutely disgusting, but for that very reason does not make trifle any worse.
I'm a trifle deaf
Cadbury's Flake that sits on top of the cream.
