morning all. how are "we"?
there was something positive i wanted to share with DiS this morning but I can't remember it!
on the minus side, 260 all out and 25-0 in reply is hardly the start that England wanted. I had a dream that the score was 139 all out (ENG) and australia were something like 151-9 in reply.
not that I actually *saw* any of the day's play.
it's always hard to know how good a 1st innings score is until the other side have batted, but i can see england losing by an innings. (are you english or australian?)
but I don't have any strong allegiances. I barrack for cricket*
*This isn't true either: I've had only a passing interest in the game since the early- to mid-90s.
you know if you get an Android phone in Australia, what term do you guys use for when you get admin control of it? Because 'rooting' your phone or getting it 'rooted' probably doesn't quite have the right ring...
(though I can't stop laughing at the phrase/thought), I will ask my IT friend this tomorrow night and get back to you.
so damn you Theo!!
It's too cold. No snow at least.
plus some muscle in my leg seems to have popped out, making one look twice as big as the over below the knee. its quite hurty.
The National later though
A good workout this morning and a tedious conversation with my new boss all completed thus far.
It's getting to the time where I have to decide if I want to go to the work Christmas party. I currently do not but am getting sick of justifying it to people, so I may cave. I know, I know, hardly the resolve of a champion etc.
Is quite easy once you've done it a couple of times.
If people get 'pushy' about why you're not joining in, just tell them that you can't as you have a sick partner or elderly relative that you have primary care duties for.
Or, be honest and tell them that you'd rather not hang about with bellends from your work.
I have a lot of time for the fashion model that was in ShortList this morning.
...from the Top Man advert on the first page then.
I thought anyone that read it would think I meant the half naked man, which is why I had to sound a bit twatty and say 'fashion model' :D
Brighten my day people (don't post it if he's fat or ugly though.)
but I'm ^thising it.
He's a dashing fellow, isn't he?
learn to reply in the right place, yeah?
*yes i know you're talking to the model emoticon :)*
(or something less crude)
My wonderful new winter coat (and free scarf of my choice with purchase) must be doing it's job correctly.
no snow here yet. but lots of ice on the pavements.
Should really do a lot of work today.
Looking forward to the evening though...
I spotted the smallest spattering of snow on one car roof. I hate the way the South does snow, it's pathetic. Just snow and have done with it.
Banana and coffee go really well together. You can have that gem for free!
so you'll have to call it coffana
but...titus andronicus tonight!
please don't snow too much london.
as a result of the school kids trying to push their way into my building yesterday. God bless them.
and another 3 hours talking about absolute rubbish and drinking beer/eating cheese rolls.
Stupid nose keeps running; really don't want my cold back.
PUB TONIGHT = YES.
I'm really tired after staying up til about 2 watching the cricket. I kinda wish I could have powered through a bit longer but my bed time is usually 10:30pm so it was a definite struggle.
Open mic night tonight + drinks + nice people = me happy.
It's a pickle.
I will be coming in my suit. The hem has just come down on my ress and if I can't get to the seamstress at lunchtime I'm going to have to staple it. I predict staples will make it onto marc jacob's spring catwalk collection.
But I also wanted to wear my toasty-warm grey cricket jumper, which, combined with the Barbour, may just be a little too much faux-public school chic.
oh my word.
Tonight it's Blitzen Trapper and then I shall be gearing up for a weekend of sports action. Friday - Dragons v Munster, Saturday Newport County, then watch Wales v All Blacks, Sunday Caldicot away for the kids rugby. Possibly a bit early to be worrying about the weekend but I generally do fuck all on a Friday anyway. 5km here we go.
I'd be at home curled up in bed feeling sorry for myself and calling out for my mum/punching the wall all manly-like, but I promised a friend I'd show his cousin around today. We arranged this months ago so I can't pull out at the last minute because of the sniffles.
Time to MTFU (by which I mean loudly complain to everyone in earshot about how I'm dying of a cold).
because the landlord has sent round some bod to install a new communal aerial and he needs to install a new plug in the flat. It's a pain because it's making the flat really dusty, but the upside is that I can write reports on agile computing (urgh) whilst listening to The 188.8.131.52.'s relatively loudly.
Going back into work once the guy has finished though. It's way too cold.
and now I'm here I've decided I'm not doing any work today. I may not be taking this notice period seriously, but I feel like shit. If anyone complains there's a good chance I'll shit on their desk.
It's really really weak, though. Not happy.
I literally cannot feel my nose.
Why can't it just snow and be done with it.
(that's what she said, etc.)
my phone now picks up T-Mobile signal as well as Orange signal. This means that I now have signal in my house!
that said, the only person who regularly texts/phones me also lives with me. so the impact on my life will be pretty minimal.
ok this is it for my DiS day totes doing work see y'all later
have fun tonight!
I can sense a bit of a threat.
though that looks more grinch/gremlin.
Could this be because I am wearing A VEST as well as a jacket and a coat, and my super-warm and fluffy celtic scarf? Yes it is. (I have of course taken it all off now I'm in my toasty office).
I have a bastard of an afternoon lined up and I'm going to have to go like the clappers to get everything done in time for going t'pub tonight.
I'm African. Well part African. I need sun.
And wearing a lot of clothes, and only having a 10 minute walk- also big helps!
It was so cosy!
Ordinarily i would never wear it unless going to a match but i couldn't find any others and much like yours is so very cosy.
Have fun at the open mic, guys.
first midweek drunk session in ages last night, saw Sir Yes Sir's last ever gig last night, then ended up drinking Trof Lager at deaf. I should probably wander off to work at some point... :(
Has anyone got any spare energy i could use?
Today I get to work, tired, and have to deal with idiot clients who can't fill in forms.
Name removed in case it's one of you muppets. I wouldn't want to cause a stir.
My throat is really sore!
Got excited that my no knead bread, after a night by the radiator, was ready to bake when I woke up then read some more of the recipe and it needs another 2 hours to prove. Gah!
1. The guy at the desk next to me doesn't wash his hands after touching his man junk.
2. This might have been becasue the hot water tap is basically pouring out icicles today.
- Shopping for new earphones today
