This turned out to be nonsense. The real figure is around 4%.
The problem with gaining these stats is that (a) homeless people are transient so one ex-serviceman could be counted 4 or 5 times if he crosses into different local authorities and (b) lots of homeless people pretend they were in the army.
The only way to get sense of things is to have them verified. Which is what this report has done.
You have to be a psycho, therefore your 43% less likely to go to prison than a civvy? I don't understand.
There are 5.5 million Veterans in the UK yet they're vastly under-represented in the criminal justice system when compared to civilians. To me this supports the idea that joining the armed forces is a hugely positive move for most people.
