The Twitter Joke Trial
Has anyone been following this?
Paul Chambers tweeted a joke about blowing up Robin Hood Airport and was found guilty of ‘menace,’ being fined £1,000 as a punishment.
It’s his appeal today (apparently a judgement isn’t expected until 3pm), but in the meantime, a few people noticed that Conservative councillor Gareth Compton had called for a journalist to be stoned (http://yfrog.com/28bf1hp), and suggested that if Chambers had been found guilty, then so should Compton.
Turns out that Compton’s been arrested now too… http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/tory-gareth-compton-arrested-over-twitter-stoning-post-2131365.html
Compton’s one is a little worse, as it seems to be encouraging others to do the task, but it will be interesting to see how this pans out.
