Anyone else love paté?
Anyone here made their own? I'm tempted to try.
but I really enjoyed a brussels pate from Sainsbury's at the weekend.
One of my favourite pubs in Nottingham recently had mushroom pate as a starter for Sunday lunch and it was amazing.
tempted to get some for lunch now.
they do mushroom pate I think...
If it WAS the Ropewalk then holy fuck that place has changed since I last went in it...
It was the Golden Fleece on Mansfield Road.
The music is almost always awful but the booze, the food, the atmosphere, the staff and (most) of the patrons are wonderful.
Don't mind the Golden Fleece, haven't been for some time though. The open mic nights are always full of funk bands and semi acoustic middle managers - makes me sad.
The ropewalk is not a scream pub anymore! Don't particularly like it, have ended up playing fifa 96 drunk a couple of times there though
(warning: admitting to this will mean that I spam you about every gig my band do and try to sign you up to our as yet unconfirmed laser quest team)
I was going to say "YOU'VE EATEN PATE ABOUT 10 YARDS FROM ME HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT?". Whats ytour band? I don't mind being signed up to mailing lists - prepare for an email adress that is definitely mine. I'd love to go to laser quest, 2 games for £5 in the one in Hockley - SIGN ME UP
HANG ON IF MY MATHS IS RIGHT CORRECT THAT'S 4 GAMES FOR £10
which is the same as what I paid in Guildford in the 1990s. Would have to be followed by a games workshop trip though.
...the simple stuff is the best. No need for Sicilian Pig Cock and Reduced Quail Egg Paté or anything. The basic stuff will do you juuuuuust fine.
See also - houmous.
please. for me.
I have made it, yes- it's very easy.
Not to doubt your skills, just wondering if the homemade results measure up in taste?
You can make it to your own taste etc.
As far as supermarket paté goes, I currently very much like Waitrose pork liver and caramelised red onion.
Meant to Reply to say that pork liver and caramelised red onion is akin to Sicilian pig cock and reduced quail egg.
specifically to get some of that - it's just liver and red onion with some adjectives added to make it sound better.
tell us what it's like
i wasnt tempted to try it.
It's nice, dammit!
It was basically cream cheese disguised as something a bit beige.
Ardennes. Coarse. That's all you need... and always, ALWAYS coarse.
I ate a whole tub of my housemate's Tesco Finest paté when I came in drunk once. WITH A SPOON. Firstly because he'd annoyed me and secondly because I was hungry. Don't regret it for a heartbeat.
because it's all I have but also because it's brilliant and I've had a craving for it lately
all mixing in together, melty and salty, mmmm
that's next door http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4270246#r5647644
Had some tasty duck liver pate yesterday. Mmmm, pate. I make my own too (Italian godmother's recipe). It's easy, but fiddly if you want it very smooth as you have to push it through a sieve several times. I need some pate and I need it now. M&S chicken liver pate ftw.
Great tatoo across the hands of a butcher.
it was half price. excited.
and I love it. A friend made his own once, and it was fab.
I also really like mushroom paté and chicken paté too.
In summary: paté? absolutely!
You've changed, man
Love it. But not at all tempted to make my own; like laws and sausages, right?
i'm gonna smear a load of pate on that bread, then probably slam some camenbert in there as well.
fucking hell this is making me hungry.
I wish it was summer so I could eat some in the garden.
it used to be one of those things i ate every day, then i stopped for a month and lost half a stone. started again now though, i love pate too much to stop.
