Brilliant. I forgot to post about it this morning... it's amazing.
*pause for laughter*
the only good bit was Elaine.
what? what bit was that?
"My flashbacks have seinfeld money"
like, the first five minutes I was outraged. The whole rhythm and timing of the writing was thrown off by the audience laughter. I warmed to it slightly as the episode went on but still a very awkward experiment definitely best left as a one off I think.
Maybe I'm just basing that on the really dismal live episode of ER years ago
'live episodes of sitcoms/TV dramas' where it's a one-off rather than the norm
but i thought it was amaze.
I'm not sure how, I didn't really think about it... But it just seemed like something you would expect from a mediocre sitcom, not 30 Rock. And the jokes definitely are better with the sharpness of a regular episode, but it was still ok.
the west coast version was less choppy and had less audience freak outs. that said east coast version had funnier dr spacemen and john hamm segments imo (black criminal hand beats woman hand)
Jenna looked hotter 'live' than on film for some reason, which was odd as I generally don't find her particularly attractive.
The Tracey Jordan stuff was abysmal and usually his irreverent humour makes me do a laugh out loud.
