and then get off the phone and someone's left you an answerphone message to call them back:
Also, when someone gets pissy with you for having not answered the phone when you were on the phone "I tried to call several times but I got put straight through to voicemail".
Thank you for posting this. It validates me getting annoyed at this all the time.
Even worse is when someone leaves a voicemail message when I'm checking my voicemails. For a split-second I'm capable of killing when this happens.
and we sell the telephone systems. ha.
I'm locked out of my answer phone at work and can't be bothered to getr it fixed.
I forgot the password and wondered how long I could get away without sorting it. It's been about 4 years now.
when i worked in facilities i hated people like you.
now i dont care.
I hated people like you.
Someone higher up decided that "people" don't like answerphones, they like to talk to someone regardless.
Apparently this is "true" even if that person is an admin drone like me, who can't possibly answer their often technical queries about trees or sports classes or park regulations, because everyone sets their phones to divert to the admin team when they're not in the office.
I delete the vast majority of answer messages without 'actioning' them in any way. Basically, unless it's something important or if you sound like the kind of twat who makes complaints, you're not getting called back.
When someone has taken a message for you when you're on the 'phone, and comes over, while you're still on the 'phone, waves the piece of paper in front of you and puts it on your desk.
