They unveiled the prices today
Any comment on the prices?
So, who's going?
Fucking LOVE the Olympics.
Although, that said: looks like I'll mostly be going to preliminary/first round stuff. Nigh on £100 (cheapest available ticket) to watch the semis/final of everything? Hmm.
"The cost of viewing the men's 100m final is from £50 to £725"
I was just taken by the thought of paying £100 to watch the Basketball or Beach Volleyball finals. Yeah, see you there...
£95 for the archery finals? is that a joke?
looks like empty stadia is going to the be the order of the day.
what are they thinking?
I imagine the £90 price bracket involves you sitting underneath the target, dressed up like Tell Jr.
Not just 10 seconds then 'OUT!'
You get to see the finest example of the human race be the most awesome that any human has ever been.
AND he'll do his pose thing for you.
Read to the bottom and it says that the second the tape is broken some guys run up the aisle macing everyone in the face so they can’t see any other events “for free”
is it just as simple as going onto a website and buying the tickets? or is there a lottery system?
someone told me that if people from the same household apply, you've got more of a chance of getting tics.
might'n be true tho.
i'll get applying! (would happily see anything water-based)
Glastonbury isn't on in 2012 (because they didn't want to clash with the olympics) so I'll whack the ticket money on tickets for this.
Preliminaries all round - I just want to see as much as possible.
A quick glance at the ticket prices and it seems like they've nailed it to me. Good balance
Shall we get involved, few cans, in the park, cycling, see you there?
we could have our own cycling road race. i ride better when i'm pissed.
I've already put it in my Outlook diary.
His hand is being discontinued in May 2012 though.
There's no joke in this, just being a pedant.
Wanna see: cycling/bmx, athletics, boxing.
Will end up seeing: judo, greco-roman wrestling, dressage.
I am definitely going to be chaperoning the Brazilian women's beach volleyball team.
Dutch Women's Hockey team
Only care about football and (ice) hockey though. Couldn't give a shit about the other stuff.
Good luck with that.
They're the only sports I care about at any point, but regular hockey will be an adequate substitute, given the sticky, humid circumstances
but made up solely of English players.
I have to travel through Stratford every day so I might as well get some enjoyment out of the bedlam that is going to happen.
I would like to see even less corporate tickets and subsidised tickets to those in the local community.
I'd be interested to see the allocations for each price bracket ...
saying about a third of all tickets are £20 or less (which means 60%+ are more...)
of course, the majority of £20 tickets are going to be taken up be stuff with big stadia like football and basketball 1st round matches
And the economy.
There should definitely be more for the local communities though
I think overall they've pitched it about right, just a few that stand out from a personal point of view. They'll sell the bulk of that lot quite easily.
Had pretty much written off any hope of that being affordable and same with the swimming prelims - would have expected them to be way out of reach.
Diving looks very pricey (not that I'd be interested) and the Opening/Closing Ceremonys? *snigger*
I need to get saving.
that isn't through Ticketmaster (and touts)? I'll probably manage to get some free ones through work anyway.
unless they want a Glastonbury T-Day style disaster (only, y'know with media coverage) on their hands.
Oh well, I'll enjoy paying my £10 booking fee and £5 service charge.
doesnt seem right.
And that guy in athletics gear asked me "Where's the stadium?"
And I pointed at the Olympic Stadium and said "It's over there, you can't really miss it"
and started walking in that direction. You were joking weren't you?
*looks shiftily in both directions*
"Roger, you forgot to shut the gate!"
the should have thought up something more exciting, like the beach volleyball at horse guards oarade.
If it were £10 I'd be going 'It's only a tenner!!' which means that a tenner is cheap. £20 is alright as far as I'm concerned.
If you mean high - that's the cheapest ticket to go to QPR to sit in a cramped stand unable to see the pitch.
So I think it's alright for the second biggest sporting event on the planet
its £15 to stand at barnet.
what i'm saying is, you're not gonna go, "oh £20 to watch some syncro swimming preliminarys? yeah, might as well". are you? or are you?
I wanna go and see everything - the more niche the better!
Plus if those niche events are undersubscribed you can prolly get cheaper tickets off touts.
Nowt as satisfying in this world as having a tout's eyes out
i'm guessing they can all fit in there, with space for about 15,000 other people.
(diving, swimming, water polo, synchronised swimming etc), I'd expect the spectator area for the synchronised swimming to be pretty small anyway.
Will hopefully go to some football, diving and minor athletics but we'll see.
is that they're gonna be all the mickey mouse entrants from countries like easter island and benin and great britain, so to see proper olympic history stuff you're gonna have to go for the £100+ tickets. which i'll try my best to afford
Like in the rugby world cup in 2007 when all the tickets for like Georgia vs Romania were dead cheap and all the French people just rocked up and arbitraily picked a team to cheer for and lead to some of the best atmospheres of the whole tournament
i have a hunch that french people do not like romanians, dunno why
i wanna see
athletics (women's hepathlon, mainly)
that's gonna cost about 8 grand isn't it?
(even the athletics SUPER finals) are £50. So not necessarily.
But probably, yeah.
trying to work out if i start saving about a fiver a week now, how much preliminary cycling (bmx) will i be able to see
:D might have to up it to a tenner a week
are helping fund the Olympics?
It was set originally at 38p a week, out of the bit that goes to the GLA. No idea if it's risen since then or not.
in those same london boroughs
as we're essentially paying for some of it (through tax), should we pay allowed free tics?
I do think Jack_el_b there has a fair point that Londoners don't get any kind of priority at all though. As I recall it's down to EU law - the same reason you can buy as much booze and fags on the continent as you want (for personal consumption) and bring them back.
some table tennis
and some HANDBALL.
Fuck paying, going to sit on the hill and use binoculars.
Hit me with your pervert jokes.
