Probably no qualifying :-(
Ted Kravitz just talked over Heidfeld's pit rado :-(
That does ring a bell. Good work.
Well it's all set up for an intriguing race! I think wet weather should be compulsory in F1...
Suzuka's probably my favourite circuit on the calendar.
Red Bill it is then.
Was so sure that Nick was going through - Schumachers first sector was quite far off, so I was already celebrating
Great that he beat Kobayashi convincingly - but he needed to be NOTICED - not just 'do well'. Hurts especially that it was Schumacher who prevented that.
Poor Nick :-(
leaves Alonso without anything to work off. Good to see Kubica getting to 3rd although they didn't actually show anything of it. Oh well, hopefully he gets a podium finish to go with it.
Why is Hamilton getting interviewed? He's not starting in 3rd, get him off and get Kubica on! Idiots.
Bed time. Probably won't bother getting up for 6am so I'll catch the 2pm re-run.
is probably the point I can accept that Nick isn't going to be back next year. Kobayashi got a good deal with the tyres (and was helped by a lot of retirements ahead), but he was faster than that should've allowed for, and pretty brilliant with his overtakes.
The sad thing is, I was really enjoying supporting Kobayashi at the start of this year, and I don't think I can go back to doing that. We'll see.
For sure I hope that Nick can be good in the coming races, but he really had to beat Kobayashi in all of them post-Singapore to make a decent claim for absolutely deserving a seat. (He's better than a good half of the field, but at the same time, if your a veteran and can't beat a rookie, what's the point, really).
Ah well, I have MotoGP and can watch the lovely Marc Marquez rise through the ranks and become champion. I'm a loyal kind of person. Just don't have a Heidfeld-esque career, k.
So I get up after a good sleep after the quali, put a CD on, get the Guinea Pigs out for a play, do the washing up, turn the virgin box on at 13:59 and switch the amp over to the right input. I haven't put the telly on yet, but I can hear the sound of an F1 car at full pelt.
They're a bit quick off the mark, I think to myself. No worries. This must just be a summary of quali. I turn the TV on.
WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK?
The BBC F1 coverage page still says "Race re-run: 1400-1600, BBC One".
Imma watch the highlights on the web and they better have a decent rundown of the start.
I've gone too far in the highlights by mistake and seen the end.
Oh well, those Kobayashi moves on Alguersuari and Heidfeld were pretty boss.
Kobayashi was on way superior tyres at that point, and Nick was hardly going to risk anything with defending that. But for sure he was pretty phenomenal.
is a true don
David Croft describing Kobayashi on Heidfeld. This just cements my love of Croft. So much better than Ledgard.
I met him the other day. He is a nice man.
So it cut to him and Anthony Davidson's commentary for 5 Live for a couple of minutes. Lovely stuff
