die you annoying cunt
But otherwise, just ludicrous.
which is just the kind of quirky guitar someone as indie as her should love
if the film existed without Juno, it would be much better
how can someone think that's how you spell biscuit?
It was about 6 months later that someone pointed out the mistake to me :(
you like biscuits a lot don't you? I'm sensing a user name theme here....
Tbf i think I did both while drunk
Biscuits are awesome though
What a legend.
I am unobservant, cheers :D
Juno is one of the worst things I've ever seen and I don't just mean films
300: Some men shout loads and have a fight, the end.
I'd like to see Pauly Bleaker take on Xerxes. He'd be all like "Uhhhh ... whaddup, homeskillet" and then a heavily pierced man would rip his head off while heavy metal music screamed in the background.
YOU SON OF A BITCH
i thought that there'd be a fair amount of love for it on here, glad to see there isn't.
makes everyone feel less embarrassed about how much they bummed it when it came out. See also: Garden State
I just don't see that it's worth getting worked up about either way. It's a piece of fluff.
I watched Garden State last week and it's pretty dull.
I have the potential to be a professional film critic with this sort of analysis.
When you say bummed, do you mean bummed it up, or bummed it down?
and "<something> 101" -both pretty annoying. I write like a bit of a berk sometimes. And I meant bummed it up.
and a friend has been using get the memo, I thought that it just her but on seeing this I'm guessing it's used by plenty of people.
it's turning us all into yanks
shut up right now.
"So hard with my girls not around me
its definately not a nashville party
cause all I see is stilettos
I guess I never got the memo"
(Miley Cyrus - Party in the usa just incase you're wondering)
not that I knew it already.
i can tell
how and why you know this.
also, do you have anything to do with that tinycat person on twitters?
No, I don't know who they are!
it made me excited for bowlie 2
For some reason* I assume you spent the entire film touching yourself, and as such had no time or brain capacity for other emotions.
* well, you know
# O-o-o-o-h, Juno.
so much > Come On Eileen
Wasn't in the mood to watch it tonight though.
Primrose Bush are headlining
although it is just a story of a man trying to reclaim his rug... Actually, a lot of stuff happens in Juno as well (I can't stand this movie for the record). Lost in Translation is a better example of a movie where nothing happens (which is great imo, but is also quite the opinion divider)
What the hell even are "twee indie complexes" anyway?
Also, I haven't seen Juno
and by rising to it, you only confirm my feelings
which is ruled by an apparent need to give people labels and put them in boxes. I'm not rising to it, I'm just questioning what you think because it seems to be really narrow-minded.
a female lead and a quirky leaf characters and people like you just fapp over it.
And I'm not really bothered about doing so.
You're just stereotyping and being really offensive.
not waste my time 'arguing' with you till 5.30 am like last time, not worth the effort.
What is the matter with you? You just seem to be looking for a fight or something idk
for adding a bit of sense to proceedings.
she actually was just trying to bring some perspective to things, and I think she succeeded. If I've got a twee indie complex, you DEFINITELY have one, yes?
JUST because they're on your side
I'm pointing out that someone seems to have a rational point of view and that we should probably just agree it's right. Nothing to do with anyone being on any 'sides'
YOU COMPLETE BRA
but GIVE A SHIT?
Anyway that's completely different
while mummy oxo and daddy ducky sort their lives out
As a lower tier DiSer I was not aware of this
Please amend my original statement as however you see fit
In other news, it's my birthday today.
500 days of summer on the other hand...
it's no adventureland. can we all just agree on the brilliance of adventureland.
Zombieland is good though.
Because 2 people were talking about it on the bus too.
At exactly the same time as 300 and Predator.
I watched Predator, obviously.
In principle, it's not a bad film. The problem is taht Juno's character is so utterly hateable, and 90% of the film is her spouting hateable dialogue
but I quite liked Nick & Nora's Infinite Playlist which everyone seems to find even more beyond the pale
but I actually kinda liked it. all the hip pop cultural references made me want to die (Melvins! Sonic Youth! Dario Argento! HG Lewis! (how fucking dare the writer compare Argento with Lewis? completely different types of films, obviously she has no literal clue what she was on about)), but other than that, it was sweet and quite funny, even if people don't actually speak like that, or act like that, and so on and so forth
people's complaints regarding films like Juno/Nick & Nora's Infinite Playlist etc.
The cultural refernces that are the same ones that people on here would like. I remember someone grizzling about Michael Cera having a Dinosaur Jr. poster on his wall in one of these films and I was thinking ‘that’s a weird thing to complain about’. There would be complaints if it was some band like The Killers or Green Day, there’s complaints if it’s something good, and in the case of NANIP, I remember people even bitching about having a made-up band (Hello Fluffy or whatever it was called)
Music fans really are the most precious bitches
music (and film) references generally serve no purpose whatsoever (developing story, character, or whatever else) other than to show how intelligent and brilliant and hip and cool and down with the kids the writer is. it's boring, cringe-inducing, self-congratulatory and generally wankish.
there are probably exceptions
but the Dinosaur poster doesn't sound especially overt, so it probably wouldn't annoy me.
See any Nick Hornby stuff...
if you want to write a band you like into the script? So basically its fine to like obscure bands as long as you dont tell anyone you like those bands, because then you become a self congratulatory wanker just trying to show off that you have good taste in music.
I really liked that film. Quite like Juno too.
jason bateman was pretty annoying. all he seems to be is a void to crowbar in references to stuff the writer thinks is cool.
Her character fell under the 'exception to never punching a woman in the face' cateogory...
But as the film progressed I warmed to her character, which shows the strength of the plot and writing.
Saying that, its not a film I'd be arsed about watching again really...
