i've finally updated my horror blog, innit.
on your last point tho, shirely most movies are wish fulfillment? or for horror, catharsis or SOMETHING.
anyway, very interesting on the humor aspect. have you ever read 'house of leaves'? its a book about a book about a film about a house. well MINOR SPOILER
davidsons brother, when he's in the 5 minute corridor, he cracks jokes about how he'd taste awful to mr monster, so he shouldnt bother to eat him. this is while hes freezing, alone, with only a small torch to remind him hes on his own.
another character, the hunter dude, is well trained, buff, and vicious. while he's down the corridor, he goes mental.
the point im fumbling towards here, is, its not just a matter of physical strength in these movies. sure, being able to punch some abomination in one of its faces is useful, but not as much not losing your mind. so the final women isnt at that much of a disadvantage.
also its interesting to note that in the final scene of aliens, the physical difference between ripley and the queen are negated.
also also you write like english is your first language. GOOD WORK, RUSSIA
when you're allowed that sense of ironic/physical distance though, ain't it
aliens critique by the way. but this is good stuff
which my next post will tell you all about ;);););););)
Makes more sense now.
who said that, at least back in the day (and maybe even still?), all that was needed for a girl to get a lead in a horror film was, you guessed it, tits and a scream. but then sometimes they couldn't even find one girl who satisfied both criteria, so they'd get one with boobs and a double who could scream.
a good read
imma follow your rss feed, so... consider yourself seen
I'm looking forward to reading this tomorrow. Right now it's time for bed.
