BBC Four. Now.
Haven't seen it or Boys From The Black Stuff before.
Expecting big tings.
was in this :D
And Bernard Hill and Peter Kerrigan used to come to our house. I don't remember any of this.
I was expecting more. I'm not a man of complex or sophisticated tastes when it comes to character and plot in drama, but that was almost comically clichéd.
I work/have worked on building/constuction sites so I'm not a total stranger to most of the stuff that the plot comprised. But I'm struggling to see what it was that makes/made it deserving of such acclaim.
Yosser was an utter dick. Are we supposed to feel sorry for him or something?
8.2 on IMdB? Really? The documentary beforehand about unemployment in 1963 in Hartlepool conveyed about 20 times more social commentary. I didn't see it, but I'm fairly confident in guessing the one after, about Newcastle, was equally as poignant, too.
I must be missing something, but what?
(On the upside, I saw My Neighbour Totoro for the first time and it's properly mega.)
