their i sayed It
what's with the epic spelling/grammar fails on DiS today? THAT'S MY JOB.
so far so good tho
the paki faggot
I have to deal with chinese and indian people on the phone a lot and it is physically impossible to understand what they're saying (not a great grasp of English, pre-students who've never been to Britain an' all so its understandable but still RAGE inducing).
The second paragraph I can't really comment on though. This whole racism larks stupid anyway because as we all know the worst race is by far the Australians and they're basically us but criminals lolz.
For what its worth its mainly the guys who are the wankers. Most of the girls I've met have been alright.
Two Australian guys in a hostel, had previously met this German girl a day earlier and were going out in the city with her.
Australian 1: "She's such a noice gurrl, you know? She'll be a greaat back up playn"
Australian 2: "Greaaat back up playn"
This wouldn't be so nefarious if they didn't look like genuinely decent guys when you first meet them.
Australian 2 ended up screwing some Danish girl in the bathroom next door. I'm not sure I'll ever get the words "Oi I'm gunna cum?" out of my head.
i just kept thinking 'what're you planning goddamnit'
I once served a man at work who ordered in Italian. I tried to mime, point at things, talk slowly and suggest things to help him order but instead he sighed, continued to speak to me in Italian and refused to help ME out by pointing to things or even attempting to make clear what it was he wanted. He held up the queue and in the end I just gave him a coffee, took his money and shooed him away. Bloody people.
If stereotypes are to be believed, anyway.
where all the names/sizes are in italian anyway?
the Italian way. Completly confused her ;)
Grande means big in Italian, in Starbucks it means medium and Venti is twenty in Italian but it Starbucks it means large. There is logic to it but I'm not explaining because that involves revealing trade secrets and potential insight into our evil plans for world domination.
I really don't know what he wanted, I gave him filter coffee, he sort of said he wanted two, I gave him two filter coffees, he looks distressed, paid and walked away. He did not drink his filter coffees. I spoke to him for ten minutes, miming, pointing, talking slowly as the queue built up and repeatedly saying "I.do.not.speak.Italian." all to no avail.
I don't know what the majority of British people are like but personally if I visited the country and didn't know the language I would be apologetic if the person I spoke to did not understand me, I am of course in their country, not my own.
not THE country, sigh.
Also, not sure what you mean about rude people. Are you trying to say that all foreign people are rude, or that English people are apologetic about their rudeness? Neither really makes sense.
the actual Morrissey?
Neither is a lot of the examples you lot have given. Not liking someone who is from a specific country or who are foreign and have accents makes you a xenaphobe, racism is when you dislike someone due to a genetic attribute - as in the colour of their skin.
and it was meant to be a joke.
i am such a gay :-(
If they can't live in our tolerant society then they should be locked up in concentration camps.
she grew up in a west indian part of leeds and once beat up a crowd of nf thugs with her handbag who were in turn beating up a weedy jamaican kid. shes mixed race but mostly portuguese. but she hates arabs with a burning passion. loves everyone except eastern european people and arabs. as long as i don't date them.
i think that when they were young it was just so normal and it must be hard for them when they get really old and set in their ways.
we bought my gran one of those lean mean grilling machine things and she poured the fat out of the side onto some bread to make bread and dripping sandwiches...they also don't understand cholesterol. but they are all good people, with slightly off kilter world views that wouldn't translate into acts of actual racism but are generated by fear and nasty articles in the daily mail.
i'm not defending in but i can almost understand it.
on to something.
(although new ones spring up, according to events, since most people have more formulative years when they are younger then it is no suprise whatsoever, that many people (who follow the herd) will become more at odds with the latest sensibilities.
Its an argument for not following the herd, but many young people now, also follow the herd, I expect that we can see that in future years when they are old, that the emotional responses and opinions that they form now and keep might appear very 'ist' to a later generation (that is assuming that sensitivities to intolerance will continue to improve, which is unlikely given the increased nastyness when things are cut back (thats when blaming specific groups of people becomes more prevalant))
Its not really a laughing matter at all, but many youngsters seem determined to exercis their freedom to say whatever they want (with little purpose....just for the hell of it) little consideration or politeness is shown (just so long as it is not demonstrably 'ist').
People used to make jokes about people who were handicapped, now (quite rightly) that has become unacceptable, so instead people have moved onto other jokes which are not classed as 'ist' but sometimes show an almost callous disregard to how people feel, its like, 'let the perciever beware this is the internet, if you are on the internet you have no right to ask for people to be polite'
gradually exposing her latent prejudices without really realizing it.
She lives in between a mixed race family and a family who have a grown up gay son.
She's always calling people by the wrong name, but recently she's started referring to the black lad next door as Jordan, she's called his Dad Lucas about five times that I've seen and the gay fella next door is now called Christian. She doesn't mean to do it, but we all know why she's getting confused.
Guess what her favourite soap is...
Old people tend to stop caring what people think about them so they end up being stating their true opinions: racist and none.
Younge generations have grown up in a society where they have to hide these feelings so the racist and the none racist outwardly act in exactly the same way when no alchohol is involved.
Here' some anecdotal evidence that really moved me that goes against what you are saying.
I went to Portsmouth last weekend which is a nast nasty place. There is an asylum detention centre in Gosport and EVERYONE hates it and the asylum seekers locked inside. Even the local paper proclaimed 'VICTORY' on the front page when it looked like everyone was going to get chucked out and the place closed down. The vast majority of people in the town seemed to be extremely racist and abusive to the immigrants in the city.
However, I then went to a local asylum support/refugee group that my dad volunteers for: and EVERYONE there was a pensioner volunteering time to help refugees and asylum seekers. These were elderly people deeply concerned about the welfare of a community that most of their citymen despise and attack on a daily basis. The only people under 60 working there were the salaried managerial staff (about 3 people).
I don’t buy this bullshit that old people are more racist. It’s something young people use to make their generation feel better about itself and unique. The kids in the 60s thought they were the progressive ones with their left wing politics only to end up in white suburbs in their old age and warning their shithead kids like you to stay away from black areas when you go to uni in London.
