MONDAY FOOTBALL thread
So a mixed international weekend for the home nations...
England looked good against a rubbish bulgaria side. Defoe was as good as i've ever seen him - hopefully he'll do that for Spurs a few times this season. Rooney was good - not quite as pant-wettingly good as some of the press, or capello, made out though. Gerrard again looks much better in frank's absence. Jagielka should start from now on, even once Terry's returned (assuming Rio gets back to full fitness). Great news re: the extent of Dawson's injury - it looked like a season-ender at first.
Lots of debate as to whether lampard and terry should get back in the team when they return. For me, it's a no-brainer as far as lampard's concerned - in his absence we look so much more balanced, and whilst i'd keep him in the squad, i don't think he should be starting. Terry's not so much of an issue, especially given the injuries that plague our CBs.
A. Johnson should probably start ahead of Walcott. Glen Johnson should probably be given a book on how to defend.
Scotland blow it. Wales lose and Toshack says he'll resign once a suitable replacement has been found having said he's taken them as far as he can, albeit backwards. Nice one Tosh.
Cracking reuslt for NI, and lols at France.
Sheff Wed lose to Brentford. Stevenage continue their admirable start with a draw against Crewe.
Rooney and hookers.
Houllier and Vila - apparently the playes are revolting.
VDV turned down liverpool apparently.
