What the bloody hell is a cake tin? And will a 'loaf tin' do the same job, just in a loaf shape?

any tin would do, unless you specifically want a circular cake

one thing though, is that a cake tin has a detachable base and loaf tins don't. that may be important but i dunno, it may not...

You're the foodie fella right? Any particular recipe you know that you recommend? As it is, I've just googled it and clicked the first link...
it's probably not the best idea to put the mixture in a loaf tin - it'll mess up how it cooks, and probably won't rise very well unless you throw in a heap of baking powder.
Is the loaf tin my only option? The recipe says plain flour as well, should I use self raising instead?
As in, when I move the tin the mixture in the centre moves with it. How do I salvage it?
Works fine, it's just loaf shaped.
Bannana cake is pretty much the only cake she can make, they're pretty nice, but I'm sick of them.
