Not that there's anything wrong with that, but still. Quite funny if true. I love Tory MPs.
favourite MPs (of any party) ever. I wish he'd managed to make more of his wit when he was leader of the Conservatives.
He did used to make me laugh occasionally in PMQs but generally speaking he's a cock. He's bad enough for his politics, but the fact he's a professional Yorkshireman puts him beyond the pale.
I can't abide his politics, but I think I could share a pint with him quite easily.
You know he was convicted of electoral malpractice once?
Where you think "Oh Mandy!"
I hate Mandy. Well, when he's in government anyway.
However, if they deny it, you are technically accusing them of lying, and it is defamatory to suggest someone is dishonest.
What a total 'lord.
some people in this country don't know quite when to stop stooping.
But to then read in the papers that you're expecting would just be appalling. I'm no fan of the guy by any stretch of imagination but the press in this country are such utter pricks
(but they have left it a bit late so it is likely to be a bit more difficult/risky) and i dont see how not being able to concieve has got anything to do with ***uality.........really there seems to be little tragedy relaed to any rumour here.
with regard to the other guy resigning over the twin room rumour.....seriously? resigning over that? ....mtf....a politician who was unable to weather that? it actually makes it look suspicious that there were reasons for the rumours....some tory mps manage to b***er bulls, sh** a judges wife and his two daughters, procure prost*tutes for foreign buyers of electro torture equipment, get their daughters to lie under oath and still smile at the cameras and refuse to resign
(The above is of course an amalgamation of 3 well known tory mps)
but it is entirely irrelevant with regard to ***uality and the other issue.......I cant quite understand why they are being linked at all
a) Scurrilous media gossip does real people a great deal of harm. In this case it involved ruining a young man's career, in a previous one it involved fabricating a pregnancy story about two people who are particularly sensitive to gossip on such a subject.
b) Key to the unfounded gay rumour was the idea that Hague's marriage was failing. It wasn't, but he and his wife were going through a particularly stressful time and someone in the media jumped to a hurtful conclusion on why they might appear stressed or unhappy.
You're smarter than this.
You can fend off GOSSIP without bringing such a deeply affecting personal matter into the fray.
The media repeatedly reporting on Hague and his wife expecting/experiencing marital difficulties doesn't justify mentioning miscarriage and an inability to concieve?
He's a public figure who has been subjected to fairly unpleasant gossip for an extended period of time, not some spod who stubbed their toe and then cried about it on the internet.
But it's still just superficial gossip. Using a miscarriage as a means to justify marital strife seems, on Hagues part, very selfish.
I think his wife only consented to revealing this information after being leaned on being bulldozed by Hague and the PR machine.
Speculation, of course...but that's the essence of this entire thing.
I suspect he didn't have much consideration for how his wife might feel.
It's also not superficial gossip when it forces someone out of their job. And, for what it's worth, I think it's fairly objectionable to say Hague is 'using' a personal strife to detract attention from any allegations. He has been involved in controversy before, some very heated controversy, without using his personal troubles as a shield.
And the fact that the adviser has quit just added another another level to the speculation. He pandered to the babble.
Anyway...your typically thoughtful and articulate response very nearly swayed me....but I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. Dinner time. :)))
You know I'm the resident typo guy, right?
It doesn't detract from that brimming brain of yours, Kelly.
I'd ask Theo to ban you but you're probably in league with him.
That's not enough to feel bad for someone even ignoring the rest of it?
we're not (very) gay.
he seems quite a likable chap when he's on HIGNFY (ditto Boris Johnson)
Id actually quite like to go for a drink with those two......I would also relish the prospect of having some political banter with then
but it seems that I'll now have to watch my back
That 'you bender' is directed at The Incapacitant's comments below.
I have no idea how the rumours started.
I am a very gay freindly man.
The joke of my post is that i said that i would like having a drink with two tories and that I would have to be wary about something else that I dont care about (i think that my DIS persona is almost a characature of being against tories and not caring about appearing a straight macho homophobic bloke...(Im just a human who happens to be male and happens to be straight))
Or are you just winding me up because of my theo tendencies
and then when the opportunity arises for me to make such a joke (cos it is apecially applicable for my circumstances....see previous notes explanation) and I get pulled up by cg on it......:(
but confused another.......I thought that theo did not have LAD tendencies
...no situation is too contrived to make a joke about the gays.
Completely harmless......creaky was unleashing his inner child.
McCarthyite suspicions of an MP being gay? How desperate.
I mean is really being reported in the papers? why? Im confused, has haig got some enemies?
It's like he's using that as a safeguard.
...but he's cheapened a very personal matter by using it as a defence mechanism.
mind you i suppose that i know that people think that about edward saxe-coburg-montbatton-windsor
It's very obvious what the link between the two is.
these kinds of rumours have been doing the rounds amongst colleagues for years about various MPs. And yes, he was one of them.
The miscarriage statement is cynical, stinks of PR and unneccessary.
The number of all-gay stag dos I've been on is astounding.
Can this country just grow the fuck up?
what a gay.
"William Hague can only get off when he's watching dinosaur porn." When will these horrific allegations about his personal life end?
could they choose a picture to make him look any more bent?
I'm surprised they haven't edited that so they're holding hands, just so there's no possible misunderstanding.
I like William Hague; he seems like a genuine person.
Whether Hague is gay or not is by the by, to be honest. There might be an issue regarding the appointment of an additional Special Advisor, and one that, on the face of it, doesn’t have the experience normally required, but I think that they’re not grounds for resignation.
To me, at least, the most interesting thing is that it’s the Mail On Sunday, Telegraph and Guido Fawkes that are running these stories. One has to wonder who it is within the Conservative Party that is feeding them information and pushing them to publish it.
any sort of news or rumours circulating about haig (hence my confusion about the context maybe...see above) way to go dis....scurrilous gossip mongering media
I'm picturing Labour HQ right now...
compared to the hilarious awkwardness that you can imagine from him sincerely sharing a double bed with an assistant he had no physical relationship with. Imagine his broad yorkshire accent asking you to give him a bit more of the duvet, in a polite but no-really-I-am-your-boss way.
I WAS TRYING TO BE FUNNY.
YOURE WORSE THAN HITLER AIDS.
with seb coe.
i bet hes sick of being the butt of peoples jokes.
and therefore couldn't possibly be gay
which is just the right balance for any cover
Seriously though, the man should only ever wear a suit and tie, bad things happen when he doesn't:
