Anyone done one or been tempted to? The money is ridic. But I guess there is the threat of death to consider...
after hearing an ad on spotify. I'd probably do it, as long as I knew whatever I was testing wouldn't make me drowsy all the time so I could still study.
In other news, I got turned down for a job at Lidl today.
According to my mum I'm 'overqualified'. I'm going to keep telling myself that.
good money, no bad side effects. his only complaint was how bored he was (but he did make some friends).
do you live in london? expect to have to go for analysis once or twice before the trial and again once or twice after the trial.
Death is very unlikely.
Might do one when I'm back at uni.
there's usually different levels of tests, as in you can go for the ones which have already been trialed loads before, so if you are a pussyclart who thinks growing a third arm on your face would be a bad thing then go for these, Im getting tempted seeing as no job I apply to wants anything to do with me
for the majority of them you just sit about watching tv reading books and eating for a couple of weeks then come out with about £2,872 for your troubles. Go for a mixed sex trial, I always like to assume that the bored people end up touching each others bits to mix it up a bit, though Im not sure this is the case.
But I found a few where you can go give the some fluids and get £200 odd quid (unless I completely misinterpreted it) that they do near me.
true story: angular records was founded through medical testing.
but not drugs. It was uni students doing tests on memory and preferences and I got wired up to a machine and had to play computer games. The money was rubbish but it was pretty fun. They drew all over my head though and I forgot and got the bus home with felt tip arrows all over me.
I've posted about this before.
I had a patch of skin like 1cm x 1cm taken from each of my arse cheeks, and then had to go in every day for the first two weeks, and every other day for the next two, and they applied cream. Were testing to see whether it sped up the recovery of scars. A few months down the line I read that the trial proved the cream had NO effect, so I'm stuck with the scars for life. I rarely get my arse out though, and when I do, I just say a lion did it, or something equally cool and badass.
Was well worth it, £1800 and they paid for travel, which I ripped them off for. I travelled from Fallowfield to just by uni in Manchester, a trip I would have had to make every day anyway. Pretty much got me through second year that money did. Will probably do again, but nothing intravenous.
Although there is a small chance that it could turn out quite bad. I had a friend who was screwed over by an operation one. They fucked up the operation and wouldn't even pay him the full amount as he couldn't do the rest of the trial because of it. So I guess read the small print before going in for it.
never had any side effects. Out of about maybe 60-70 people ive done them with only 2 people have had any side-effects(vomiting). When you go for the medical they will tell you what stage of testing you are. If you were at all worried you could just do trials where you are the last study group so you already know what has happened to people who have previously took the drug.
All the trials i done were just taking tablets. There are plenty of those available and they pay good money. If you choose to do ones with drips or anything else then they pay more usually but can be a pain in the arse. A lot of the time the slighlty better pay probably isnt worth it for the increased hassle and discomfort.
the money is incredible, and because i have just the right amount of asthma they get in touch with me every 6 months or so to arrange a new study. all the drugs i test have been tested on hundreds of people before, and they use me to see if the drugs work, not if they kill me.
that said, one time i was on some pills that made me feel fucking terrible. in the end i refused to carry on taking them, but they still paid me in full and offered me further trials
just working out whether i can get the time off work to do one next month as it goes
"We are an NHS based Fertility team looking for healthy males aged 18-45 years old to donate sperm in order to aid couples having difficulties in conceiving naturally."
So that's using my lovejuice to make a baby with right?
Probably worth the £250 if I stay anonymous, I don't want some teenager hunting me down in 16 years time and wanting me to be his dad, fuck that.
a load of replies telling me not to be so damn stupid and that I'd end up with a balloon head and unable to have sex again or something, but I'm even more tempted now.
Oh and £250 for my sperm? No fuckin way, its worth way more than that. Blood for £100 though...no wonder nobody is doing it for free.
If they just want to do experiments on it, I'm down with that, if they want to make babies from it, then probably not.
