The Drifters are a Swedish dansband with a long history dating back to the 1960s that broke through to mainstream success in 2008 with the Top Five hit album Tycker Om Dig. Founded in 1962, the band underwent numerous lineup changes over the years and was originally all-male before later featuring female lead singers. While the mid-'90s lineup featuring lead singer Marie Arturén had some success with albums such as Nästa Gång Det Blir Sommar (1994), the Drifters took their success to another level with the addition of lead singer Erica Sjöström in 1999. Sjöström (born on June 30, 1970) made her Drifters album debut with På Begäran (1999) and was featured on the follow-up albums Om Du Vill Ha Mig (2002), Det Har Jag Ångrat Tusenfalt (2004), Kärleken År Inget Spel (2006), and Ett Liv Med Dig (2007). The latter album was the band's most successful to date, reaching number 31 on the Swedish albums chart, and it set the stage for the Drifters' mainstream breakthrough the following year with Tycker Om Dig: Svängiga Låtar Från Förr (2008), which was a smash hit, going all the way to number two on the albums chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi"
stop it right now.
a man who can sing, use a machine gun and crawl through smashed glass?
Both his albums were apparently released on Motown Records according to Wiki. They really did release some awful rubbish in the 80's.
I am sure I bought one of the two singles off of that 'Return to Bruno' album. I was 13. I liked Def Leppard and INXS. I knew nothing and had no taste.
Nothing wrong with liking Def Leppard in those days.
In fact,I was singing Under the Boardwalk in the shower on Sunday.
"Say, what's up fellas?"
oh, i loved moonlighting when i was younger...
We tend to put it on when pissed and toasting John McClean :)
There was a charity shop near the first place I lived in London that had an Under The Boardwalk 7" for ages. My flatmate and kept talking about buying it as she had fancied him, and then - AS IF BY MAGIC - a copy of The Return of Bruno CD appear for 99p. So I bought it for her. It's not good.
I really want to see The Return of Bruno The Film tho..
Released on Motown Records as well, he hit the big time!
Of course, he was always going to, with classics such as 'Respect Yourself', 'Secret Agent Man (James Bond Is Back)' and the album-closing 'Flirting With Disaster'!
Cheers for the reminder.
I shall preserve it for the nation
