Anyone know any good uns?
or even uns?
Help much appreciated, ta.
but that's okay.
but my god really?
on beak street?
My favourite London pub.
That doesn't mean it's the best, mind. Just that I love it. It's not cheap, the toilets stink, the barman is miserable: but it's home.
That's pretty much covered by the term 'central London pub' already, isn't it?
it feels very weird being in Soho and not going there or the Red Lion. I felt a bit confused :(
with "cheap, uncrowded" thrown in too. picky.
but i have standards.
and it's probably live footie as opposed to jeff and the boys talking about footie they are watching. or as my girlfriend puts it 'men watching men playing football.'
It's a nice pub. It's a bit soulless but that's to be expected. It is at least pretty clean and with a fucking great selection of drinks on offer at pretty reasonable prices (well, last time I checked).
It's central London: You're not going to find a nice, quiet local boozer.
Coffee House comes close but it's still a central London pub. Something I have nothing against because that's why I go into London, really.
I just don't see there's any reason to be snobbish about the Montague Pyke. It's better than most.
well i am a bit. It's just a bit bright and neony for my middle aged, middle class tastes.
There are no football games on the telly on Saturday afternoons at 3pm. Plus most pubs in Soho are pretty quiet on Saturday afternoon I find - they're traditional boozers, and get into the heart of it away from main shopping drags and you'll find somewhere to get a table and watch Jeff and the boys tell you the scores for a few hours.
And I go to the Montague Pyke a fair bit, but come on, it's a bit shit
but I've honestly had too many good times in there.
My mate used to go there when it was the Marquee club (or so he claims). Said it was like the inside of a tupperware container back then. At least the air con's good now. :D
but only for a short period, and not to be confused with the legendary venue on Wardour Street.
I only ever saw one gig there, Barkmarket, playing for a very sparse crowd.
