Simon Munnery Appreciation Thread:

soapy [Edit] [Delete] 18 replies 10:29, 18 August '10

or lets talk about comedy what we love

Most of my favourite comedians talk about how amazing this guy is and I finally watched some and he's brilliant. Supremely smart and awkward.

but not as awkward as this

Do you like Simon Munnery?

Do you like the things that I like?

  • I saw Simon Munnery yeaaaars ago for the first time

At a benefit gig featuring Dan Antopolowski, Stewart Lee, Ricky Gervais, Kevin Eldon, Richard Herring, Al Murray and a few others before any of them were famous. And he was one of the highlights.

Saw him again at Glasto this year out just by wandering into the tent he was in and his set was a lot more 'Radio 4', being about family and growing old, but still very good indeed.

    So yeah. I like him.

And I bought the 6th series of Peep Show at long last yesterday. Fun times loom.

  • saw him for half price at edinburgh and he was one of my favourites

he did some character thing with props at the start that was good as well, not sure whether he normally does that as i've only seem him as a support before.

    • Richard Herring is one of those comedians who uses a veil of irony to cloak his own titillation

I truly believe there is some tumescence in his underpants when he humiliates his audience. Herring would be right at home as a prolific rapist.

      • P.s. And I know every comedy creation is an amalgamation of various influences

But Alan Parker Urban Warrior is just a basic rehash of Wolfie Smith and Rik from ''The Young Ones''. Were these prototypes still around in the 90s?

    • 11 replies and nothing yet about 'The League against Tedium'???

Man that was truly awesome. Remember the TV series with the opening credits?

      YOU ARE NOTHING
      ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
YOU THINK YOU ARE ALL THIS...
      REALLY YOU ARE THIS...

      et etc.

How could I get hold of that? I can't even remember what the TV series was called, against boredom or something?
